While my car hasn't been taken out in the snow since 2006, back then I ran BFG KDWS and about 80lbs of bagged sand in the trunk. I had no trouble in the snow as long as I didn't drive stupid. Now, the '05 is mostly a drag race/cruisin car so I just drive my gas guzzling truck December through February, and a '97 Mustang GT in fair, warm weather...

 

old thread, I just picked up a set of hankooks they are pretty good in everything I have drivin them through.Very well I might add.

 

I've been seeing a few good reports on the Continental DWS as well. The Pirelli PZ-Nero all-seasons are "okay" on mine so far. They are "not horrible" in the snow...

 

I drove my zeros through several winters with no problems. Good tires as far as I concerned.

With all the snow we have had this year. They are doing great.

I have had them on my last 4 cars. A little pricey but they last very long. I have gotten 50k on the fronts with plenty of tread left. Back are a different story but that has nothing to do with the tire

 

40,000 miles on my original P-Zeros so far. lasted far longer than I ever expected.

 

Mike, the GY's fitted to the GT500 are summer tires and they go to crap under 40 degrees (comparitively true of any "summer" tire really), a switch to all-season tires will help alot in that regard, but in doing so, you'll probably see a reduction in overall cornering since the all-season tires are typically designed for traction in mud and snow and by dint of doing so, the tread isnt as stable (all those sipes and grooves in the tire) giving up some conering performance. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires are really good in this regard, they use three seperate tread compounds across the tire to help maintain handling. Another plus, they now come with a 45k mileage warranty.

 

I had 235/50R-18 KUMHO ECSTA ASX to replace the stock rubber on the Mustang GT, had them on my SVT Focus and liked them, but at the end of their life they started to suck.

I replaced them last year with a set CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS tires and they are great....I was able to make it through 4-5 inches of slushy snow a few weeks ago.

 

I'm another vote for the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. I have them in 255/45/18 at all 4 corners on my '07 GT and they're great year 'round - even in light snow.

 

I am wondering just how good those conti's handle on dry roads?
