Beaten to death but....I have an exhaust question.

Ok....I hate my SLP's and am tired of sounding like a **** chevy pick-up truck. I'm ready to move on to a better quality exhaust system. There are so many choices and I've read tons of threads on here already about them. I've had 4 Stangs before this and all were modded with the classic Flowmaster setup for that distinct, throaty but deep exhaust tone. That is what I am looking for.

My question is, with the 05/06 new heads, do the Flowmasters sound just like they did on our pre 2005 stangs? I'm not looking to put an X or H pipe on her, but definately want a better sounding system.

I've heard all the clips online but you never really get the true sound through computer speakers. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Flowmaster axel back kit but are there others that give our 2005+ GT's that same good old sound?

Borla is the exhaust you are looking for. This video is the Borla catback setup on my car (before the headers were put on)

Closest thing I have heard to what I consider that good old sound are the fordracing/borla stingers. I already had the Bassani set up with compcats and xpipe. I liked it, but it was just a little too loud and raspy. I sold my 05 and got a jeep. Then I bought an 06gt I have heard the flowmasters, and they were alright. But the ford racing ones I bought, which are the exact same muffler as the borla, just says ford racing and cost 200 dollars less are the nicest sound all around I think, nice and deep. When you get on it, there sweet. Love cruising under bridges, it sounds Like I'm at INDY. Which is where I'm going for 4th of july for the formula racing.

Another FRPP/Borla fan checking in. Had the Magnaflow a/backs but didn't give the sound the car deserved. If your going Flowmaster, IF I remember the thread I read, a specific one (Flowmaster) had less drone - think it was the American Thunder

The American Thunder Flows sound good, but not as good as they did on the older Stangs. Mine do drone some too. IMO they're quieter than the Flows were on past Stangs. They sound good when you get on it though. I like the Borlas too.

I have Flows and they sound great, I also have an off road H. When I had them on without the H they quited down abit from when they were new. I have heard FRPP.Borla's and they sound deep and sick. Would definetly recommend those.

Flowmasters!! Borla's drones badly. It's ear hurting. No offense to Borla owners, I love the sound, but inside the car, i cant stand it.

But in any case, i did this video a while back with my flowmasters and a friend of mine's borla's. Maybe this video will help you decide.

Well it seems the drone on the Borlas is pretty bad so I may not want to go that route. Are the Borla kits you buy online the same os the ones Ford Racing sells? Are the Stingers the same as the other kits for the 2005?

Yes, they are the same ones. Borla manufactures for Ford Racing, and they are the same "Stingers". Just one is stamped with Borla on the tips and the other is stamped with Ford Racing.

+1...they're much quieter than on past Stangs. They're almost too quiet, but that's because I had SLP LM's on my 05 for the first year. Switched to Flows so I could go with the O/R H setup.

I can tell the sound of a 5.0 at a moment. I like the flowmasters and I did not want to sound like the 5.0 no offense.
