Dont get too excited. I cannot install them, and neither will you.
These guys at Bassani got the f@!#$%^& bungs in the wrong spot so I cannot install the oxygen sensor. They developed them wiht a Ford Prototype and apparently they mount different than the prototype. So, I have emailed them pics of the oxygen sensor connectors - if they are the same - they will overnight the cable extentions.
However, I have a feeling (since I am all done) that I may open the wrire wrap and see if they will stretch long enough. For sure, once side will reach, but the other may not.
Per Bassani, they look the same, so they are overnighting me the cable extentions. If this works for me, they will do the same for others.

The new Mustang Enthusiasts Mag just came out and did a x-pipe 5 or 6 diff types on the new Stang with JBA long tube headers no cat. Also one with high flow cats and one H-pipe. The H-pipe provided a tiny low end advantage 2-3 tq. Lost a few on top 4-5. Good article The x-pipe were quieter than the H-pipe.

that's cool. i like it quieter at idle. but when you get on it...man i've heard johns bassanis on our last dyno day, and holy crap. schweet!
anyhow...i wanted to let you guys know, i called and talked to bassani and got some info on the problem. i actually chatted w/ nathan out there, bryan, so he knew exactly what was going on. he said they're waiting to hear back from you before they start shipping their exhaust with extensions. so if that works out, i'm going to have my installer contact them so they can get the system ready for me on saturday.
thanks again for the heads up bryan, u da man.

ok...heres the difference....an h-pipe has a cross over pipe and is shaped like an H
an x-pipe has a cross over pipe and is shaped like an X.....if you didn't know.
The shape of the pipe probably will not make a difference in sound that you could tell by listening....at least I can't tell you if it is an X or an H....The loss of sound comes from if it has Catalytic Converters or not....even if they are "high flow" cats...it still will not be as loud as if it had no cats at all.
The bad a.s.s mustangs you are hearing "probably" do not have cats....referred to as an "off road" h or x pipe.
Off road meaning not legal to use on highways due to pollution/emissions.

The Bassani x-pipe that you are talking about has cats?
If so, do they have one w/ out cats?

Just make sure you shop around. I am looking for my 97 and most ads had the Bassani x-pipes w/cats for around $370-$390. There was another ad in the same magazine that had the pipes for over $500. I'm sure this will happen on the 05's also.

Summary
Performance: Unless the tune helps me out - I can tell that I have lost power, especially torque. I am assuming this is because of back pressure. I will update everyone after the tune this weekend.
Sound: Sound is very odd. It has a deep rumble, with some almost trumpet like sounds. I do like the sound - very similar to a 98-04 Cobra, S/C sound. I will have to get used t othe sound difference. Also, the tune may help as well with the sound. I will update everyone after the tune this weekend.

Interesting change Bryan....Be glad to listen to them in person and see what I think....if the motor is compensatiing for the changes then it very well could be what you're hearing.....i'm sure it'll all work out as I've got just the x-pipe and it sounds great....cats must be giving it the s/c type whine.........

Dont mean to hijack.....
You have the baddest tire set-up i've seen!
I'm so use to seeing all the low profile stuff, those are some beefy tires you have.
I love the way it fills the wheel well.
Anyways.. Are you having any clearance problems? and what about performance?
I want to do big tires also.
Your tires are 10" wide, if you had a wider rim, would you have room for a wider tire in the rear?
255/55/18 is 29" tall with a 5.5" sidewall and the vehicle is lowered!
