Bamachips has K&N X2 tune
I've read good things about Bamachips on here from users, so I emailed them asking if they had a K&N tune or were working on one, and the reply email indicated one is available. Just haven't seen anyone with this combo talking about it, so wondering if anyone here is using a K&N with thier tune? If so how do you like it? Any dyno results? etc etc..
Thanks

Back several weeks ago when I was researching which CAI and Tuning Device to buy, I contacted both SCT and Diablosport, they both indicated that they were currently working on K&N tunes.
I would imagine both companies provide their dealers advanced tune information for various CAI.
As you've probably already read, Doug at BamaChips can't be beat in my opinion. I couldn't be happier since dealing with him, I have a permanent Grin on my face everytime I get in the car

I have to agree about Doug at Bamachips! Hey wrote me a new tune and the throttle response is great. I feel a gain from bottom through the top of the scale. Throttle response is instant on both accel and when I back off as well. I love this tune!

ok ok I get it, Doug at Bamachips is great. I haven't worked with him so I am not disputing this, LOL
Just wondering if anyone out there has his K&N X2 tune and how its working for them personally.

I'm still leaning toward the K&N CAI, but my hold up is the lack of a specific Tune. SO, hearing this is somewhat exciting news.
The best deal I've seen thus far for a CAI and tuner is the K&N + Predator for $500.
So, Doug, or anyone else, how close are we to having a good Predator tune specific to the K&N CAI?
I 'm sure it's just a matter of time, I'm just getting anxious
Thanks!!

You can reach me at 205-335-2686 on my business line or at my email at BamaChips@gmail.com until my site email becomes available.
I have a K&N tune ready togo when ever you need one for an X-calibrator. I'm overnighting one out tomorrow to a customer.
Thanks, Doug.

So, is the person who got this tune a week ago around to comment on it?

I just ordered it on Monday myself without finding anyone who is actually running it, just going off Dougs reputation and good service with response to all the questions I emailed him. Hopfully I will have it end of this week or early next. I will post my results and findings (no dyno numbers since I dont have access to one, but basic feel and thoughts)

Hey, it's Sunday Dan . . . . you should have it done by now. Come in off the streets and tell us all about it.
What's the

What's the
?Don't worry I'll give an update once I can
Well, got to work this morning and the 9am mail run came and the guy dropped of my tuner. Couldn't wait til I got home, so grabbed a screwdriver (for the K&N) and went out side. Pulled out the HC trap and the 2 fuses it says to in the SCT manual. Plugged in the tuner and loaded up the 93 performance tune (Filled up on 93 last week in preparation), then took the car for a ride.
All I can say is "Pretty F***** Cool!!"
First I have an auto in case anyone is wondering. More and quicker throttle response, can feel the performance gain for sure. Much firmer shifts. I'm now chirping the tires in 2nd and it wants to in 3rd (this was with TC on), When cruising and flooring it, the downshift is very quick compared to the lag before, and you can feel more torque, throws me back in the seat alot more than it did! I am very happy with the tune and everything. Very easy to use and only took about 10 minutes (including removing the HC trap from the K&N.)
So I would definatly recommend Bamachips and the K&N tune!
One question for anyone who decides to reply. Since the shifts are alot firmer now how much more wear does that put on the transmission?
**EDIT**
In addition to the tune itself Doug is a great guy as everyone has been saying. He included 3 tunes on my tuner 87 and 93 performance and his 93 torque. I asked him to include the stock tune on a CD just for backup and he included 6 tunes on the CD 87,89,93 performance with K&N, 93 torque with K&N, 87 performance stock airbox, and overall stock tune. Great guy to work with and from what I have read if I have any issues or questions I will get the same service as I have been getting.

Hey Dan (dekujala)
That's awesome news !! I knew you would be happy with Doug and his tunes.
Folks don't need to look any further in my opinion for their SCT tuning and CAI needs. I haven't seen or heard of anyone else getting the level of service that Doug provides, not to mention Quality Performance Tunes. Words just don't give this guy and his tunes justice.

A "torque tune"?!?
That sounds promising. What's the story there? How much more torque? Is horsepower sacrificed?
A "torque tune"?!?
That sounds promising. What's the story there? How much more torque? Is horsepower sacrificed?
My Question:
What is the torque tune?
Dougs Response
1.) The torque tune is aimed at adding more midrange punch or more torque in
the normal driving RPM band, from 1500-3500 rpm's. The reason I seperate
this from my performance program is I've found that I can gain more bottom
end torque from a certain program but the topend wont gain as much
horsepower so by breaking these two up I can gain more topend power using
the Performance program and still can give the midrange Torque from the
torque program. Beleive me some guys live by Dyno numbers no matter what
the car drives like if it makes 2hp more at 6200 rpm's then they are happy.
My torque program makes most of it's power in the mid range but may not give
as much at higher RPM's so I break it out into a performance program for
dyno purposes.
Then I asked:
so the torque tune would be better if I'm mainly concerned about off
the line 0-60 and 1/4 mile stuff like that and could really care less
about top end and if it has 3 extra hp.?
Dougs Response:
1.) Yes and sorta all in one. The torque tune is for downlow and midrange
torque. I used to call it my Daily Driver program because it is aimed more
so at the normal daily driving RPM range. Now for 1/4 mile runs I would
lean towars the performance program because you are going to be at WOT and
more so above 3500-4000 rpms and this is where the performance program
shines brighter. Both programs give better performance all across the RPM
range over stock.
Just throwing the conversation out here to possibly save Doug a bunch of typing, LOL
