Bamachip Tunes- Question
#44
One last question a lot of guys are going to ask, but noone has...
When I purchase the xc2, do you have a place for me to sleep until my wife gets over dropping 400 dollars on a little box with a wire sticking out of it?

Well I'm going to bite the bullet and buy one tonight on the ole American Standard (credit). I have decided to go blind and follow what you guys have done.
I sent GOD an email but he hasn't responded yet but he can still answer the questions I have.
In short;
1. Stock upgraded tunes, but what if I add a Steeda Intake next month, do I need to tell him what I got and he punches it up on the computer and out spits a tune?
as in the more mods I add, is there some all encompasing software with paramaters he adds to the tune or am I looking at a custom dyno tune when getting into headers, xpipe, exhaust combo etc..
I guess I'm a little weary of a car that requires a tune for all the performance parts..
Life used to be simple... bolt on a carb, intake and exhaust... turn a few screws and your all set....
I'll bite and go with an 87 performance tune(burns pretty good to get to work), 91 Race tune(common for California) and 93 Race tune (in case I dump in some race gas or find 93 somewhere)? I mostly dump the cheap gas in it because it goes out the exhaust so fast... hahah
I don't know if it's necessary to modify the tunes for an intake now or it can wait...
I'm going to be in the dog house tonight.

Hi Bill,
I was wondering if you could please give me an answer to the instructions that come with the SCT tuner. The instructions state to remove the fuses for the fuel pump and the electric fan.
Do I need to do the process before I connect the tuner?
Thanks, Bruce

No need to pull fuses... just make sure eveything is turned off (radio, dome lights, etc).

I asked Doug the same question and he said that it mainly applies to other Ford vehicles where reflashing the computer can take several minutes.

I noticed that you cannot buy Xcalibrator 2 from the SCT site but you can buy the Strategy Flash device. The Strategy Flash device looks like it *only* comes with tunes done by SCT. Go to the sct site and see if you come to the same conclusion.

Tried the 93 Torque tonite
Well I've had my SCT and tunes from BamaChips since last Friday and when I first got it I went with the 89 Torque. Tonight I filled up with 93 for the first time and loaded the 93 Torque tune. I think I like this the best so far. It feels stronger, even in the lower rpms and the throttle response seems smoother and better than my 89 Torque tune for some reason.
At this point I think I'm pretty satisfied for now...Airaid CAI, Flowmaster exhaust, and the Bamachips tune. The car feels a lot quicker, more responsive, sounds great but not too loud.
If I do anything soon it might be replace the Airaid with something a little better. I went with Airaid thinking I wouldn't go the flash route but then changed my mind 2 weeks after buying it. The thing about the Airaid is that the MVT tube is same size as stock MAF and with the MVT tube out it was reported that Doug had to do some drastic settings because the tube is so large. And afterwards the gains in hp were zilch.
I wonder if JLT 2, or Tuneable Induction would let me pick up a few more horses. One thing I will say about the Airaid however is that the shield is nice and sturdy and bolts on in 2 places using factory mounts...so it's solid.

Yup the 93 Race rocks , but I loaded the 93Tq this PM because I need to keep my nose clean till July 25..and the 93Race tune has me haulin' *ss all over the place, whereas the 93Tq is mellower and i keep the revs down (I also get better mileage as a result of staying off the gas )
