Bama Tunes

I am getting ready to purchase a C&L CAI and ecal 2 was wondering what would be the best tunes to ask for.

My 2006 GT 5 speed is a daily driver, mostly freeway. Looking for some input on what people are running.

I plan on running 89 octane most of the time with an occasional 93 octane and tune to match every once and awhile.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

I'm not sure if he does an 89 octane tune and you won't get much more performance out of the 87. I run a 91 performance tune only because California doesn't have 93 octane. I help this helps.

I got the JLT II with 87 performance, 89 torque, 89 performance. I didn't experience the uberwow! others have. With the 89 torque tune I can hear my engine growl under the hood and quicker throttle response. I'd go with higher octane tunes.

When I get around to ordering a tune for mine (w/o a C&L), it'll be the 91 Torque tune, read nothing but good stuff about it.

I run the 93 torque tune from Bama Chips everyday. Someone on another forum did the math for both, and you get better gas mileage and better performance using the 93 torque than the 87 or 89......

Dougs tunes rock. The tune is the best money spent on my car thus far.

I got the 93 race, 93 torque and 87 performance tune. Usually just use the torque except when I go to the track.

93 Perforamce and Torque tunes are fantastic... I have yet to try the 87 I have, although a member in Toronto has, and is very happy with it.

Just loaded his 93 Race tune after driving with the 93 Perf tune for several months. Very nice, a keeper. Only complaint is what feels like a too low (RPM) idle speed. You notice the same Andy?

Hi there

Well my car seems to idle around 750rpm which seems fine to me.

I am CAI, CMRC's, UDP's, Bassani LTs, Bassani Catted X-pipe and Saleen Axle backs.
Each addition I have noticed improvements in the butt dyno.

Plus when I did get it dynoed it made 320RWHP and 315 RWTQ so I think those results are good.

You can just increase the idle with your xcal.

The 87 performance tune is very noticeable and well worth the money.

Has anyone tried just 93 octane gas without a tune? I'm wondering how much improvement there is in torque, etc. wth just the higher octane gas. In other words - is it the tune that's improving things, the octane, or both?

Is there a noticable improvement in throttle response/lag with this tune?

Higher octane gas would make little (if any) difference without a tune to go with it. Running a higher octane just allows for a more aggressive tune (e.g., more timing) by reducing the chance of detonation.

the 87 performance tune definitely feels better than stock. you can feel the difference with the tune just touching the pedal, all the lag is gone, but you dont feel power in normal cruising since the performance tune is for 3k rpm's and higher. The 93 torque feels stronger and at WOT it kicks. I have an auto and it doesnt shift until it hits the red line at WOT.

I run the 93 Torque tune all the time. No complaints... except the gas mileage I get is only about 15.5, unlike the 17 I was getting before the tune. However, the car rocks, and the gas mileage is a combo of my foot and the (I think) the new 10% Ethynol gas.

Bottom line... you can't go wrong with one of Doug's tunes.
