Axle Girdle?

I have been looking at getting an axle girdle. buyford racing has one for 188bux or so. However I have a few questions.

I am not buying it for the strength or the looks. I am buying it for ease of service as the ford racing one has a fill and drain plug built in.

Now I don't know if the axle girdle will fit behind the watts link I have. Anyone have any experience with the fays 2 watts link and the ford axle girdle?

I'd email Jim and ask, sure he knows the answer.

Also, the instructions I have say you can flip the propellor to be on the backside instead of toward the front, so there's more clearance.

Here's Jim's reply:

The "low profile" version of the diff cover will work fine with our low profile bolt kit

I contacted Jim as well. He said the same thing you posted. I am ordering the bolt kit now & a overhaul kit for the watts link. I think by springtime I will do the overhaul and put the axle girdle in. Looking forward to painting my axle as well.

New bolts for the watts link and new spherical bearings & propeller bearings. I drive my car year round and its been 2 years since I put it on, I figure it needs a refreshing. I will be taking the watts link apart and replacing whatever is worn or corroded. Then I will be packing things up with white lithium grease.

We get allot of salt on the roads around here and that cant be good for the parts. It certainly does need going over. I am hoping that a plain cleanup and lithium grease will do it, but I am getting the parts just in case. The central bolt will be getting replaced regardless as I have torqued it down a few time already and I feel its probably stretched. Ill see what my caliper says regardless. This wont be done until spring so don't hold your breath on results anytime soon.

You're talking about packing the rod ends with lithium grease? How's that done?

How much does he charge for all that?
