Axle back mufflers
Go to a show etc. and see for yourself. I wanted 304 stainless if spending that much.
Heard youtube clips. Heard, for real, Stingers, GTA's, Flows, etc. Rode in a few cars, blah, blah blah.
My choices were Corsa and Borla 11752 since my kids have sensitive ears. Not a peep out of them with the Borlas..they say the car sounds "cool."
Corsa, while awesome sounding, a little too many $$$ for me now.

Borla touring mufflers (11752) + x-pipe = deeper sound outside with zero drone inside except under load, which is true of even the stock mufflers. Here's a clip of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4-gusk1pZM not the best sound, but you get the idea and I had no drone inside. this was my 8th mustang, so I know drone.
Corsas are too much $ and have a different (higher) tone outside.
Here's another twist to the "muffler guessing game". I also have an auto trans. and I think most of us want more than the stock mufflers Ford worked so hard to please us with.
I had DynoMax, awesome , but inside drone too much for my taste.
Went with GMS Cat-Back, no drone and better than stock sound
I recently got a great deal on used Flowmaster axle back (I liked the bigger tips). Great sound some inside noise, but wouldn't say it was that it's that anoying drone.
But, here is the twist I think one can do to save the tme and effort of the endless search for "the perfect sound". Install QTP exhaust cut-outs. I did this when I had on the GMS system and love it. I think it would be a great first step with stock exhaust. The thing is, if you want quite you keep them closed, if you want some great sound just crack them open a bit, if you want to let'r rip just open then wide up..... The thing is, even when wide open at WOT on hwy or not, you get sound (good sound) no drone just great loudness.
So now days I'm running the Flows and a little open cut-out most of the time. For attention I open them wide open.
Summery, just a thought to have tame & wild with just a stock set-up & exhaust cut-outs.
*Note: the cut-out's have a switch you control in your car at will, say to close up when the fuzz is near.

I've had JBA longtubes, JBA o/r h-pipe and Mac axleback for quite some time. The car is LOUD at idle, cruise and WOT, but sounds awesome. But the drone in the car with windows up can be a bit much. Windows down or at the drag strip, don't care. But finally I had it and put a new set of Magnaflow mufflers on today. Wow. New car. Quiet at idle, nice sound at cruise, great growl when you punch it. Not quite loving the actual tone, but I'll live with it.
I've got the Corsa Extreme's and love them. No drone.
Here's my video to hear what they sound like.....

My car is all stock except for the Corsa axle-backs. I loved the sound of the stock exhaust....I just wanted something just a little more aggressive.
