Axle-back installation with jack?
I ordered an axle-back today, and I am away from home right now, so I don't have access to a jack. Is it possible to install them without jacking the car up? If I remember correctly from removing the mufflers on my '05, you just unbolt the clamps, slide the mufflers forward to unhook from the exhaust piping, lower, then slide back to remove from hangers. If I am correct, this means I should have to jack the car up. It may not be too comfortable, but clearance for removing the mufflers should be a non-issue. Or am I remembering wrong?

I did my flowmasters on my back in my garage without jacking the car up. it is nice to have those racheting open end wrenches though instead of the standard open end wrenches. took me about an hour to do the whole thing, not a big deal at all, good luck

+1. Not that hard at all unless something doesn't line up.

I'd recommend jack stands (rear) and floor jack (front)... or for easiest installation, get access to a lift. Reason: you'll most likely need to center your tips, and to properly center tips, you'll need to loosen mid-pipe clamps (by H pipe), center tips in cutouts, tighten H-pipe clamps, then over axle-clamps. Doing all this on your back with 6" of clearance just doesn't work.

My car is lowered on Steeda Ultra-Lites and I installed my Steeda axle-back without jacking the car up. I really don't think it would have made it any easier if I would have done so, but then again I haven't tried getting at the mid-pipe to adjust the tips yet either... going to have to do that one of these days.

How about you get a pair of those Rhino ramps? They're $50 shipped on Amazon... http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000AMM...pf_rd_i=507846

Doc, I think you got that backwards.. When all is loose, center the tip, then tighten the over-axle's first, then the H-Pipe clamp last.
