Attention Lowered vehicles, tire questions!

I have the stock 17" bullitts, tire size is 235/55/17 all the way around, i'd like to go wider with same tire hieight, what is the largest width tire you think can go on the vehile WITHOUT spacers...I'd like to go 255/40/17 but i fear 245/45/17 maybe my limit so as to not have the tires rub....my goal is to keep the same tire height, if anyone can work out some options for me based on their experience or calculations, that'd be great....Thanks

I assume that you want to stay w/the 17" Bullits. If that's the case, you're correct. 245's are pretty much it. Here's my favorite calculator.

If you want to upgrade, they're guys here that are running 255's on 9" rims w/o any problems. Check the "Show us your wheels" thread for some ideas.

You definately don't want to go 255/40's or 245/45's, they aren't close to stock diameter. 255's are fine on a 8" wide wheel. Many people run 255/50/17 on these wheels with no issues.

Yes, the height is the same. Here are the measurements in inches below. I have seen lowered vehicles with the same set-up and haven't heard of problems. However, I don't have that set-up so I can't give you 100% endorsement.

OEM- 235/55/17: 27.18
255/50/17: 27.04

245/45/17: 25.68
255/40/17: 25.03

We run 255/45-18's, but the overall wheel size is exactly the same as those tires.

This is a fantastic site, comes in real handy when you're switching to other-than-stock tire sizes. Plug in those two tire sizes and you'll see what I mean.

Post up pics after they're mounted! Heck, post current pics. I'd love to see Eibach's with the 17" Bullitts.
