Anybody see the article comparing shorty headers in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords November issue?? I was pretty dissapointed to see that they gained a measly 3 h.p. and 4-5 ft lb. of torque pretty much. Anyone else expect more out of these headers?? Anyone here have the JBA shorty headers, the new ones with the ram horn design? Did you notice a big difference in performance? Affect the sound of the exhaust? And lastly, do shorty headers void warranty usually?

I read through the article and expected no more from shorty headers. Full length is the only way to go... otherwise just stick with the stock manifold since Ford did an awesoem job with it.

Wait for SEMA 2005 - first part of November - I suspect we'll see some new stuff - maybe Bassani will figure something out.... I expect them to come out with a mid length header that will work with the X-Pipe/High FLow Cat system they have out now.

Headers seem to be a waste to me. Put the money toward a blower. If you are really going for serious HP or want to keep it N/A, then go for headers, otherwise forget it.

Why would you say that? Headers (at least shorty's) are good for sound and a little more throttle response/torque. You can't go wrong with $370 Shorties when people are paying $700 for axle backs...

Ummmm, to get the most out of a Blower you want full length headers. But, I suppose you could just bolt on a Blower and call it a day with lower numbers compared to others. Its up to you.

I at least thought the equal length JBA's would show better results...they looked to be the best of the lot, but not by much. I would like to hear a sound clip of the shorties with the Borla/FRPP axle-backs.

There was a post by Brian (I believe) that said he dynoed his JBA headers and only got 3hp out of them.As a result of that post I sold mine on ebay before even putting them on.Shorties are pretty much a waste on this car IMO as the factory manifolds are very "header" like

Everything I've read about the modular engine is that shorty headers are a waste of time and money - the real gains are in LT's whether it be NA or boosted.

I have the Bassani off-road x-pipe. I'd love to see Bassani come out with some mid-length headers to work with their x-pipe.

Oh yea that would be a dream. If someone has FRPP/Borlas with the JBA Shorties.

Not suprising since shorty headers have gained little if any horsepower on a near stock or bolt-on V8 Mustangs for a while now, I think since the Modulars came out. Most lookin for real gains with headers get longtubes and a tune.

so far MMFF has tested mufflers, x-pipes, and shorty headers. Did I miss anything? They've got what, a total of 10hp so far if you were to add all three components? ouch. maybe it sounds really really cool though :bang:

Sounds like the stock exhaust system in general is pretty darn decent.. I added the axle back system (flowmaster) for the sound quality improvment, not the measly 5-7HP... Seems like cam replacment, underdrive pullys, free flow air/ram airm and a ECM tune/flash are were the signifigan gains in HP are...
