anyone running a turbo setup on their gt?

already thinking about what to do with 2011's tax return since summer is pretty much over. talk about looking ahead huh? hahaha. anyway, i was thinking maybe going with a turbo kit. any thoughts on this? SC might be too much thats why im leaning towards a turbo instead.

Jason, what do you mean when you say a supercharger might be "too much"?

A well tuned supercharger that puts out a safe 450 rwhp is a great option. Turbo's are great also but I am not sure if you have an issue with a supercharger or not. Please give us a little more of your thoughts.

Twin Charge it.

Turbos AND Supercharger; best of both worlds.

when i say too much i mean financially too much.

chutoyy......how about tri-charge?

http://www.streetfire.net/video/guyt...ang_157808.htm

lmao

honestly im looking for the most bang for my buck. turbo seems to be the way to go. ive only had the car on the track (1/4 mile) once so I dont really beat on it too hard. i have nothing against superchargers, they just seem to be sooo expensive. honestly if i could find a setup that my wallet agrees with id go for it. id like to eventually get ATLEAST 400rwhp, ideally 450rwhp. i love my car, dont get me wrong, but im just bored with the power shes got. a turbo or SC would def rekindle that love for the throttle!

sorry about that first post btw. could i be anymore vague? hahaha

If your tax refund is enough to buy a turbo system, you're letting Uncle Sam borrow too much of your money during the year. And while the banks pay maybe 1%, the IRS pays 0.

Depending on the turbo system you choose to go with, you might just find a supercharger to be a better deal! My suggestion, if you choose to go turbo would be to get a complete kit(not a tuner kit). Don't go with a turbo that is too large, and NO rear mount turbo, aka STS system. So short of turbo, fmic, piping/couplers, injectors, a tuner with pre-loaded tune(if you don't want to go with a custom dyno/street tune), fuel pump, plugs, i'd say go for it if you find one in a price range you like. If not, check out the Vortech kit. Or hell, even a Procharger would work! Twin turbo kits are 7k and north. Someone posted an ebay turbo kit for under 2k, but i've always had the "you get what you pay for" belief.

Don't forget, a "complete" kit never actually means you're done buying stuff after that. You will need gauges, wideband, and the idea of an electronic boost controller/turbo timer isn't a bad thing to consider. Oh, and of course i'd leave room in the budget for tires.

why don't you get the Hellion and let the OP know how it turns out

Not usually the best plan for entering the FI world.

if you go turbo, stay small in the 60s. Many vendors will be quite happy to sell you a larger one than you need.

slipnot, i had the same steeda springs you do with my hellion kit. the turbo pipes under the car would scrape on large speedbumps and steep driveways. eventually i swiched back to the stock springs.

if i were to go with another turbo kit, i would go with the turbonetics system. i haven't seen one in person, but it seems to use less tubing than the hellion. i only went with hellion because that is the one brenspeed sells and they included a tune with the kit.

although, if i started all over again, i don't think i would go turbo at all. i would probably go the common route and go with a whipple supercharger instead. it seems a lot simpler in design. the problem was that too many people in my club already had superchargers, so i wanted to be different.

still, gotta love the sound of the turbo spooling up and the blow off valve sound.

From what I'm told, it'll pass the emissions test, but it won't pass the visual test... (i.e. extra piping, snail, and no CARB sticker)

i am not, by any means, cheap when it comes to my baby (or as my girl calls it, my mistress). BUT, with that being said, i wouldnt mind spending 4grand on a solid turbo kit that will give me the same #'s and reliability as a 6grand supercharger would. thats what i mean when i say, best bang for my buck.

Antigini-GT/CS...ur right, i might find a supercharger that is a better deal and will give me the same amount a power that a turbo would. but from what ive researched, doesnt seem to happen too often (unless the supercharger is used).

sound wave...i did see that on some kits, ground clearence being a problem. if that is an issue with a certain kit (or all of them, i dont know), i prob wont buy it. i like the stance that the steeda ultralites give to the car and ive gotten many a compliment on that.

there are alot of factors going into this decision and i GREATLY appreciate everyone input and opinion on it......thats why i started this thread! hahahah

any more info anyone can give me (turbo or supercharger kit sales, deals, used ones for sale) would be awesome.........TMS FTW!!!
