After reading the article in MMFF plus the instructions posted on the MagnaCharger website, it appears that an installation would be pretty straightforward. I like the idea of the front air induction as well as the overall well thought out system itself.

Who has actually pulled the trigger on this and was it as straight forward as the instructions and article show?

Thanks for the link. I was more curious on how difficult the installation was. While I'm not a gear head, based on the instructions, this looks fairly straight forward and I do have a buddy to help oversee that is a gear head. It is going to be hard enough to come up with the $$$ for the charger and I like the idea to be able to say "I did it myself"...you know the deal

The install was easier than long tubes, and long tubes were not that bad.

you can do this install with a good set of hand tools in about 6 hours. think of it this way: you are changing your intake manifold, adding a pulley, and re-routing some heater hoses. it is straight forward, the instructions are awesome and downloadable at magnacharger.com

I would do this again in a heartbeat. no regrets at all.

 

Did Doug hook you up with a custom tune or are you running the stock MagnaCharger tune?

 

I am running a 2.80 pulley, a c&l filter and a custom tune.

 

Semi-On topic but how much more is the Saleen over the Magnacharger?

 

+1.... not trying to get off-topic, and I'm certainly not disrespecting the Magna either, but the Saleen is a simple one day install for most people and can make anywhere from moderate power (4psi) to BIG power (15psi) and has tons of tuning support out there too.

 

The maggy is a roots style blower with some of the more advanced technology of a twin screw. In it's stock form running 6 lbs of boost it will give you excellent power starting at about 1200 rpm. the magnacharger can be pullied down to run up to 16 lbs but begins to lose efficiency after about 11 lbs. up to 10 lbs though it can easily hang with the twin screws and give you more power under the curve. For the price I got mine for I would have had to hit myself in the face with a shovel many time had i passed it up.

if you don't plan on running crazy boost, and like big power and torque avalable at any moment go for the maggy. I let a v6 owner drive my car and she put it sideways just trying to take off from a light...lol

Hey Faber how much power are you making with the Magnacharger and at how much boost?

 

I have not dynoed yet, but I am running nitto nt555 285 40 18 tires and it spins them at the top of third gear when you put your foot to the floor. I am running a 2.80 pulley which should be about 10.8 lbs of boost. Doug from bamachips tuned the car on the street.

 

And you can get the Magna in a kicka$$ chrome finish too.

 

Plus it has the best whine of all the blowers at WOT (IMO Even beats the whipple)

 

Steeda got 430 RWHP and 394 RWTQ at 8.5 psi on the 3.10" pulley on mine ...

 

Can I have some info on where I can buy this SC'er, and what are the different packages. It seems like this might be exactly what I'm looking for. ~400 rwhp, not too much strain on the engine, and not too much power that the Automatic tranny cant handle. What do you guys think?

The love the sound and looks of the MagnaCharger. It even fits on the Bullitt while keeping the strut tower brace and cold air intake setup. This charger is by far the best looking SC if looking to maintain a stock appearance since major rerouting of the intake is not required.
