Another new Flowmaster? (Not the AT)

I was at a muffler shop yesterday and the guy said that a new Flowmaster muffler for the Mustang just came out two days ago. This is another version after the American Thunder came out. He was saying that the American Thunder was too quiet for many folks and so Flowmaster came out with another Mustang muffler that is louder. I don't see anything on the Flowmaster website about this. Anybody else hear anything?

I had Flowmasters that were different on the '06 mustang that I used to have. They did not come with new tips, they were a gray color, not black like the American Thunders, they had to be welded to the h-pipe and the tips were welded on too. They were louder inside the car than the A/T's and I don't think they sounded as good as the A/T's that I have on my '07 GT/CS right now. Those were shop mufflers and were not designed for the new mustangs like the A/T's. Here is someones car with those mufflers,o/r h-pipe, and jba lt's:YouTube - New exhust normal driving YouTube - Exhaust Full Throttle

Supposedly these are another muffler designed specifically for the Mustang like the American Thunders. I have seen several Mustangs at dealers that simply used a 40 welded onto the existing pipes. The American Thunder is a bolt in. According to this muffler shop, the new product is like the American Thunder, made just for the Mustang, but louder. I'll have to go back and hit him up for more info.

Sorry I don't have a part #. Maybe 07 gt/cs does. I don't have that 06' mustang anymore. I got a new GT/CS and put A/T's on it.

I went back to the muffler shop today to ask about it some more. Apparently it isn't exclusive to the Mustang. The new muffler will be called a Super 44. It isn't an axle back, just a weld on. The muffler guy called Flowmaster and they said they don't plan on making any different Mustang axle backs other than the American Thunder. The shop also said they are having a lot of Mustang owners come back after an American Thunder install not happy with the sound. I guess it is a bit too subdued for many used to the usual Flowmaster roar.

You had my attention there for awhile... I am very happy with the sound/tone of the A/Ts. I just wished that they had a little more volume. I think that they even have a better tone than my previous owned Stingers. If they would redesign the A/Ts, I would suggest making them all stainless steel(instead of just the tips), and open up the chambers a little more to increase volume, then they'd be perfect

Flowmaster has come out with a few different mufflers tailored towards the muscle car. Super 40, Delta Force, etc. With less interior resonance. They're actually tailored to the grumpy old guys that can't handle the AT's! Just kidding!

Be careful....
I had a guy sell me "these are the exact same things as A/T's but they aren't painted black"........
They sounded like A$$ and he charged me more for them, oh and they were flowmasters....
I raised 8 kinds-a hell and they swapped them for the A/T's.... Man does it sound good now.

I like the gta's by themselves, if you add a xpipe it is going to be higher pitched and a littler raspier, at least that was my experience with the bassani x pipe, comp cats etc. I have pretty much tried them all except magnaflows. I havent heard great things about them so I stuck with the more expensive systems, and so far the gta is the best sounding without resonance/drone on the inside of the cabin sounds louder than stock but without any drone. Good luck

I have the Flows and love them. I wish they were a little louder, but they sound very good and the tips are nice as well.

Sodaman... If the drone was not an issue, what axle back/X/H pipe combo do you think sounded the best?
