Another CAI / Tune question

Hello all, need some help with getting through my first mod. (CAI and Tune). Questions:
  • Does a tune and CAI decrease the life of the motor? I plan on having my new Mustang a long time. Plus it's my daily driver.
  • I understand this mod would void the engine warranty. If i ever experienced an engine problem, could I tune back to factory, and put the stock air assembly back together or would the dealship know I tuned the engine?
Thanks everyone for your help

No, but driving it hard 'cause it's so fun can.
It doesn't void the warranty, but a lot of dealers get really scared of mods.
If you tune back to stock and put everything back stock they shouldn't notice a thing.

It should INCREASE the life of the motor. Cold air is good for it.

The only potential problem I can see with a CAI/Tune is the fact that with a CAI, you lose filtration. Meaning: more, and larger particles make it through the filter of a CAI than a stock paper panel filter, thereby causing extra dirt to enter the engine. Once in the engine, it gets into the oil, and causes abrasion on metal parts, wearing them out sooner.

The question is, how much does this affect the engine in the long run? I don't know, but Ford doesn't use restrictive panel filters for no reason when they could make more power with a factory CAI setup.

Amsoil makes a replacement CAI filter though, seems like it would filter as good as a paper panel filter.
