Which Al driveshaft ?

I think an Aluminum driveshaft will be my next upgrade.

I have an 05 GT with an automatic transmission.

Which driveshaft will give me the least amount of problems. I'm not looking necessarily for the cheapest, just the one that is not going to give me any problems (Vibration, etc).

My car is mostly stock - no suspension mods.

coast, spydershaft.

im considering one of these shafts plus they also both weight 16.5lbs which can give you about .2 in the 1/4 mile. plus from what i hear they are both really good.

I read about vibration issues with Spydershaft. Some have even had to to rebalance it, probably at additional cost.

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11209

That is something I don't want to be doing !!!

I have had both the Spyder and the Coast. If you get the Coast with the adapter plate it's an easier install than replacing the pinion flange with the Spyder. JMO~

with the coast shaft they show a standard shaft rated at 500hp and a heady duty shaft rated at 700+

the heavy duty shaft is $100 more so even though im no where near 700hp is it ok to get the heavy duty one? what is dont to the shaft that makes it heavy duty? and because its heavy duty does it weigh more than the standard shaft?

Yes it's ok to use the adapter plate. That's what I mentioned in my earlier post. Unless to are going to get F.I. I wouldn't waste the money on the 700 HP unit.

Don't get the one with a new pinion flange unless you plan on completely taking apart the rear end. You can't get the preload right otherwise. I know people will argue with me on this but if they want to risk it, more power to them. Save yourself a possible bearing failure and get the adapter. I know what it's like to loose a pinion bearing at 85MPH, believe me it sucks...

This is good info! ... I've been running a Shaftmaster 4'' with adapter plate ..no problems ..no vibration, smooth as silk! Plus by going with the adapter plate it makes removal of the shaft easy ! as if you decide to sell/trade your stang!

I've got a Shaftmaster 3.5" and it's been on there for over a year with no problems. I know Bill "tacobill" has had his Coast DS for over a year as well with no problems.

Steedas driveshafts are Fidanza, I believe. Maybe Gus can chime in.

Call the guys from Fidanza. They sponsored a project we did on this car so I couldn't tell you how to get one normally.

Spydershaft here. I have had it on for a few months now with no issues.
My mechanic checked everything after install even after I told him some people had vibration issues. I have had her up to some ...um..high speeds and like I said no issues here. I also went with a bmr saftey loop.
