AEM Cold Air
Does anyone have any experience with the AEM CAI? It appears that it doesn't need a tune.

They released it for the V6 first, a couple of people have put it on and liked it. Don't know if anyone has dyno'd it yet or not. But the people that have used it, liked it.
It makes a difference. I drove a V6 with one on it, and it's quite the peppy vehicle. This vehicle that I drove still has the stock programming as well.
They claim 16-18 h.p. (at least according to RPMOutlets's limited info about it)

I thought all CAI kits needed a tune...
Anyway, it doesn't look trustworthy enough to me. I'd stick with the more expensive but proven kits like C&L or K&N.

AEM had been around a long time folks. The reason you haven't heard of them, is that their bread and butter is the ::GASP:: tuner crowd ::GASP::
And as far as tuning goes, no, not all intakes require a tune. If you want to get the most out of one that doesn't, then tuning is required.
Some manufacturers have found ways around the tuning issue while playing with the airflow while still showing modest gains. Most that don't require a tune are getting anywhere from 12-18 H.P. without tunes, and 20+ with tunes.
There's a whole lot of info in here on the subject.
