Thumbs up

If you have made any adjustments to the C&L 93 octane tune, post them here. I'm curious to see who has done what.... if anything at all.

I can't get 93 gas in San Diego, so I'm running the 91 C&L tune (Predator). I have advanced the global timing slightly, plus added a few degress in the 2K-4K range. And, since I have an auto trans, I have adjusted the WOT shift points to 6200rpm (wish I get get it to 6250 or 6300, though... but 6200 is all the Pred will go). I have also increased the rev limiter to about 6600. Only other thing was to adjust the speedo for my taller tires, and 4.10 gears.

I have the C&L 93 octane tune from Benspeed. I made two adjustments. 1 was lowering the idle to 750 RPM. Seemed to be idling to hight at the 1000 RPM setting. 2 was adding a bit more fuel. It was running slightly too lean. I found that when I got on it (downshifting from 5th to 3rd or 4th) and gunning it would cause it to hesitate before accelerating. Thats it though. VERY HAPPY!

The hesitation, did it feel like slamming on the breaks for a split second and then flooring it?

In what area did you add fuel and how do you know it was lean?
Thanks

I'll check with Brent from Brenspeed for an answer on this.

You are the first person, besides me, that I've found who has had that problem. I just richened my tune by 1 "point" the other night but haven't had the chance to drop into 4th doing 80 to see if the problem is still there. I hope there isn't, it really makes you look like a dork when that happens around other cars.

No doubt. It is embarassing. I have not been able to duplicate the problem since it was richened for me. I am using the SCT tune though. I will post Brenspeed's response to the question of how he knew it was running lean and what he did to correct the problem as soon as he responds to my email.

Response from Brenspeed:
"added around 8% fuel to your previous C&L tune in certain areas and maybe more in other areas. I didn’t know for sure it was lean but I thought it might be when you told me of your problem that is why I wanted you to try the new tune."

FYI: This tune is for SCT, not predator.

I dyno'd the car and made adjustments of 4 points rich on both power bands. Straightened out the curve very nicely.

I adjust global spark -5 to run 87 octane.

Could someone help me out and point me in the right direction for the C&L CAI?

I think this might be a better solution than K&Ns!

Thanks!!!

C&L is OK but the performance numbers (Dyno) are almost the same as the JLT and it cost a lot less. I am not looking to make a show statement with my car so I have the JLT and am pleased with it as it does a great job for me. You will be pleased also. There have been past problems with this system but they were corrected. I have a predator tuner that is working for me also.

I got my C&L+Predator at RPMOutlet.com... they sell the combo for about $650. I also know someone selling the combo brand new for $575: http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=34513

What's the difference between this and a Shaker hood? Does it do the same thing but a different way?

Totally different animals... I have both. You can see the C&L CAI and the Shaker in the pics below.

How much HP do you think you've gained by adding them both as apposed to maybe only the CAI or only the Shaker?

Where did you get your CAI and Shaker by the way? Can you give me the links?

THANKS!!!!!!!

I spoke with the CDC rep concering the Shaker itself at the Carlisle, PA ford show, and it took some repeated questioning but I finally got "2-3hp" and it was mainly for show. So with the C&L CAI + 93 octane tune you MIGHT get 30HP more at the wheel.

That being said, I think the shaker is pretty darn cool, but the price (~$700) and cutting the hood don't make it cost effective for my needs.

I don't think the shaker added any HP... but that's just my opinion.

I bought "Option C" here: http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05gt.htm

And the shaker here: http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/catal...isplay/634.html
