ABOUT TO ORDER HEADERS- QUICK QUESTION

I am about to order some JBA shorties (California) and I wanted to know if adding the headers will make the car run richer or will they lean it out? I am pretty sure A new tune won't be needed but my tuner said he made my tune a little rich so I just wanted to know. Also, I see that stage3motorsports has the stainless for $350-has anybody dealt with them or know of a better place to order. Thanks

You are correct that you will not need a tune with the shorties. But I can't help you with Stage3motorsports?????

If your going to get these buy the ceramic coated ones. The stainless will turn blue and not look very good after a few thousand miles. JMO~

Thanks guys, my biggest concern is the air/fuel. Does anybody know if header make it richer or lean it out?

I've got Steeda t304 ss shortys and yes the ss will turn blue and yellow ! but the ceramics got there drawl backs too! color tends to dull after time and depending on how well the ceramic was applied, after time from expanding and contacting the ceramic tends to let go !

Typically you don't need a tune with shorty's because you aren't removing the cats and they usually don't flow any better than the stock headers.I think of shorty's as a cosmetic mod and I have them.

You didn't notice any difference in sound with the shorties?

Stock exhaust flows good as it is. L/Ts and no cats or hi-flow is when your exhaust note will change.

Shatter has the exact same setup as me except I have shorty headers and our cars sound the same. Borlas with FRPP X pipe.

this is what I noticed

1st I put on JBA stainless 3" catback

a few months later JBA shorty Titanium

after the shortys I "think" the tone is deeper not louder just deeper (i like it)

I also noticed that the exhuast smells like it is running rich. I read what someone else posted about it being leaner but I can only say what smelled.

Took it to the dealer they said they did not see any problems. Had the dealer (Ford) check it after the catback install and the header install. I wanted to make sure every was installed correctly. For those that wonder no charge to check it out, they love my car Have been going there since 97

I bought ceramic FRPP shorties last year, mainly because they were used ($200) and I wanted them for cosmetics more than performance. The stock manifolds look horrible after 10k miles. I couldn't tell any difference in performance for my driving style (uh, WOT ) but there are reported gains in the midrange. I did not need a tune, and this was verified by Brent at Brenspeed. I had the Vortech blower on at the time, so if you do shorties I think (like mentioned above) that you won't need a retune.

I think im just gonna try out the mrt catted h because I know how great it was on the previous mustang. Or I might just get the mrt cats and have them welded into my offroad legs. Since my stocks cats are welded to my prochamber will I be able to reuse the stock catted legs. Mrt say their cats are 3.5 and i think my offroad prochamber legs are 3, would that work? What would be my best route?

Adam..The Prochamber legs are the same as stock.....2 1/2. But a good custom exhaust guy can make it work.
