87 octane street tune

I have a C&L Diablo Predator tuner with C&L tunes preloaded into it. I have the stock airbox on my 2005 GT. Does anybody know if I can use any of these tunes with the stock airbox? I sold my C&L Racer kit and went back stock because of the cost of premium fuel, at least for the time being. But I'd like to use one of these tunes, if there would be no adverse effects on the car.

You should be able to use the preloaded tunes on the stock airbox. I know my diablo that i had actually recommended the stock airbox for the preloaded tunes. You should be fine

Do not use the preloaded C&L tunes with the stock airbox. Your engine will not run properly, and it may get damaged.
Look for other tunes on the Predator that are not specified for use with a specific CAI. They should be the ones that are designed for the stock airbox.

My diablo had an 87 octane street tune that utilized the stock airbox. I ran it for about 3 months with no problems.

If that tune was designed for an aftermarket CAI that has a larger than stock MAF opening, then tear down your engine after using it for a year or 2 with the stock airbox, and you can tell us about the massive layer of carbon that has built up on the pistons, head, and valves, especially if you do a lot of WOT and/or short trip driving.

I have torn down my motor and nothing was wrong internally. I may have been lucky i guess but i didnt run the tune on the stock airbox for any crazy length of time. I have since bought an airaid CAI and have had the car tuned 3 different times. The only problem i have ever had with the car was a defective head that came from the factory.

Carbon build up will probably not be that appreciable if a CAI tune is used with the stock airbox for only few months, unless the car is driven WOT most of the time. And carbon will be the least of the owner's problems if it's driven like that.

Think I'm gonna stick with the stock tune for now. Car runs fine, and I know the power is less, but I can't really tell it that much. As far as the fuel savings go, premium is about a quarter per gallon higher than regular here. I save about three bucks per tank on the average, which adds up over a years time, even with average driving. I'm not made of cash these days,so every little bit helps me in the long run.

Speaking for my car and how I drive, I get 3 to 4 miles more per gallon with premium with my CAI and tune than I get running stock and regular. I'm saving about 9 bucks per tank full by running my tune and CAI.

Your results may vary. (Always wanted to say that)
