$600 for labor and two days to install them

After much deliberation, I decided my next mods are going to be FRPP 410's and the axle girdle. Just for fun, I called the dealership where I bought the car (Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor, MI) for pricing and approximate time needed. Much to my surprise, I was told $600 for labor and "about" two days to do the job. What a load of crap! After reading TacoBill's write-up, I have a target of $400 to $500 and up to 5 hours for the work. Can anyone out there suggest a shop in Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana that can the work for me?

I thought $200 was the norm for gear install.

Yes, I see that now. They sell Motive gears but not FRPP. Not sure if they will install something they don't sell, will call on Monday.

When I last checked Brenspeed did not do gear installs. I was quoted 3 1/2 - 4 hours labor for gears. I tell you what it really isn't that hard. A couple of my club friends and myself did 2 cars in one day.

I was thinking the same thing, about 3/4 hours-so a tick under $400 at the most, even from a dealer. Any mechanic at a Ford dealer who's been around for first gen expys and 02-04 explorers should be a jedi master working on rear diffs.

Hey man Brenspeed probably won't do your gears, but if you don't mind driving that far....... about an hour south of Brenspeed there is a shop in my home town (Decatur, In) that is a local mom & pop shop and they've done gears in 3 of my 'stangs for about $300 in labor each time..... and NO GEAR whine. PM me if you want the details..... the shop is HiWay Service and is a good, family owned general repair shop.

This is where I had my gears installed. Great shop, and they are located in Newport Kentucky. (Right across the river from Cincinnati) About $600 installed.
