Well, I for one have NEVER had my car that fast. Why, that would be against the law.

PS - Meet you at Price and Queen Creek on Saturday and run em to 140 on the way to I-10?

Ah crap, I missed this post!

I've done 140 on the I-17 South, car felt really stable, even w/ the old 235 tires I had.

I did 135 on the 87 North this past weekend, totally different road and it was a little hair-raising.

Less severe w/ the FRPP Strut Tower Brace, but still there.
In general, I'm concentrating on the road...hood flutter is the last thing on my mind at that speed

I hate the hood flutter. There was one time I was with moving with traffic doing 90mph and I was passed by an Accord that had to be doing 100mph. I'm driving a 300hp car and I'm worried about my hood flying off...that aint right.

2MFF:

The MAJOR reason people go to the t56 is it is a MUCH STRONGER, BETTER SHIFTING tranny than the POS 3650.

Has anyone ever actually had an issue with a hood opening or is everyone just scared that it MIGHT happen.

You can count me in the "scared it MIGHT happen" camp so I'd really like to know IF it's actually happened to anyone too.

I thought I read something about the Grand Am cars or the FR500 car blowing hoods at high speed but I can't back that up.

Assuming that you are using 235/55R17s and 3.55s in the back, a 6th gear OD ratio of 0.50 will result in a cruising RPM of 1800 at 80 mph.

Using the stock Tr-3650's 5th gear OD ratio of 0.62, we get about 2200 RPM at 80 mph.

There is going to be a decent difference in gas mileage. However, the same result can be achieved with the stock tires and stock Tr-3650 by going to 2.73s in the back. 2.73s for the Ford 8.8" are plentiful because all Crown Vics come with this ratio from the factory inlcuding taxis, unless they were Police Interceptors (3.27s, 3.55s for 99-early 01 and 05-up) or Marauders (03-04 only).

But then my mom would have to drive HERE every weekend to wash my clothes for me in my washer. It's just easier if I drive up there every weekend so she can was my clothes in the comfort of her own home.
