ey what trans is a direct swap into the 05's? t56? or a TKo trans? I wanna swap in n ew motor and a 6 speed, possibly, but idont wanna cut up the floor. i wanna keep stock shifter location. - Roger

 

There is no such thing as a direct swap for a six speed due to the hydraulic clutch and the remote shifter. The only option I have seen is the kit from D&D Performance. Unless you are doing a lot of really high speed driving or have a very, very steep rear end gear, that second overdrive is not really worth the effort in my opinion. It is a very expensive swap for an extra gear that is not really beneficial for most street cars.

I believe it would be a T56 since the TKO600 is a 5 speed.
As for the remote shifter David (169stang) is using a Swarr shifter on his TKO600.
I don't know enough to tell you if the shifters are interchangeable between the T56 and TKO600.

isnt there a TKO 6speed avilable aswell?


I know the 600 is a 5 speed, i have one in my 70 mustang.

 

The usefulness of the second overdrive gear is that with 4.10 gears @ 70 mph your running like 1,700 rpm's. Pretty nice if you ask me.
