For those of you interested there is a great article in the April 05 issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords Magazine on some things that make power on the 05 Mustang.

Picked it up today and it appears from their test that 91 Octane DOES NOT hurt the baselined car. Actually helped it a few horses. Guess that computer does learn after all.
As we knew already taking the air filter out hoses it up HP wise.
They had mixed results with the HC trap removal. At first it was a 3 horse gain, but after 3 pulls it seemed to back down. No clear gains from just removing the trap is what I took from it. (my trap is still out)
They then ran a few tests with an SCT tune with/without trap, and 87/91/93 octane. Seems not much to be gained over 91 octane (103 actually set it back to 87 octane specs) Also, removing the after cat didn't gain any HP.
Final word: baseline car with 91 octane = 279.78h 301.46t
SCT tune/no trap/91 octane= 287.54h 307.78t
It seems this was a simple tune and not much thought went into it, i.e. timing changes over the power band, etc. were not done. Also no mention of shift points for autos were mentioned as this was just about HP.
It's a decent article written from a Kenny Belle perspective as that's who bought the car for research into their new SC coming out. Had some good pics also.

If the weather is cool and you use "uncorrected" numbers, then you can see some pretty high figures. Most everyone who tests using "SAE" correction sees between 255 (low) to 258 (high). I have dyno'ed several of them, and that is the range that they seem to fall into stock.
Nice to see that they weren't making a ludicrous claim on the SCT tune like others have made. Now hopefully people will realize that you can't get 25+ HP out of a tune on a naturally aspirated mustang. I just dyno tested the Diablo tune on a new one, and have reported the results on the thread titled "C&L intake and Predator on the way" or something like that...
