Well from what everyone is saying about the new mustang , is that it wont be very solid over 400 hp. When you get into numbers like that, arent you going to have to do a lot of internal mods, transmission mods etc?

Was that 400 or 500?... I thought 500... And I thought that was some reference to the new auto transmission and power handling.....

I remember everyone said the same thing when the 5.0's went to hypereutectic pistons, also when we got the 4.6 in 1996, and also when the 4.6 got upgraded in 1999. Some even said that the 2005+ gt's couldnt be supercharged at all.

I remember people actually saying that the mustang aftermarket was dead because of the 4.6

I dont know if anyone really has any accurate data on exactly what this car will handle. Once they become more common place maybe but until then we need guys like this to get some miles on the cars and see how they hold up. The real data will come from the people who have supercharged them and tell their experiences to us.

Wow... Yes, it's cool. Yes, it's more than mine is.... But I think I would have expected more torque, and would hope to get the power a little lower in the RPM range. But then again I might just be expecting a little too much.

As we say in the Navy Flight Test Comumity - "In God We Trust - All Others - Bring Data" - Why is everyone so sure that the 3V is going to blow if supercharged? How long would the supercharger companies stay in business if their product toasted motors?

By Ponytail: "Ford honors the warranty as long as the blower has an inner cooler."

Did he say that Ford would honor the warranty if the engine blew because the kit is intercooled? I find that hard to believe.

Exactly what I was thinking..... how cool would that be if it were true? We need some more input on this subject!

That may be, but at least this shows that the Vortech system can make power. I am sick of people saying our systems are weak.

Does anyone actually know how much the mod motor can take? Everyone is saying a whole lot of different things, it can take it, it can't ect. So has any system be running for a good amount of time yet to know?

thats pretty impressive. i have a procharger on order. can't wait for boost!
so that borrowed time comment, thats most peoples general impression, with supercharging this car. it'll run fine for a while and then its just going to blow up, even with a safe tune? well thats just great.

So your car makes 260 bhp stock and now its at 429 rwhp

A 2005 makes 300 bhp stock and this one is at 466 rwhp

So you have actually gained a slightly higher percentage over stock yet your is safe and his isnt?

well I can speak on behalf of the vortech powered stang because we work with them and I am friends with the vice president.I know for a fact the windveil blue stang has been running trouble free daily for 3 months prior to them releasing their kit.Granted that is not a long time, but certainly a respectable about of time prior to the release of a supercharger.Companies have been supercharging the stangs for a loonnnnggg time now and we should give them the benefit of the doubt that they understand what they are doing with regard to reliability on the car until we actually see different IMO

Come on guys.... The truth is no one know how much boost these things will take.

I personally think ( as in opinion ) that the new 05 engine will safely take up to 400hp. This is based primarly on the fact that the top ring is so close to the top of the piston. A little too much heat and screetch, crack, boom. I believe that a high quality tune is essential to these new engine+Supercharger. Also, Saleen limited their SC to 400hp. ( The 500hp E model engine has forged internals ) Keep in mind that they have to warrantee them for 3/36.

I also doubt that the new Auto trans can handle much over 400hp. ( not sure it can handle 400hp for long ). The problem is that the trans case and gears are smaller than the 04 models which could take about 450hp. A high volume trans cooler might be able to remove the heat fast enough however. The torque converter will probably have to be replaced above 400hp as well.

Having said that, it is all about the way you drive. If the SC is properly installed and the car properly tuned and you put in good quality 91+ GAS, the life of the engine will still be determined by the way you drive it. If you run flat out every time you move the car, it will probably not last long. If you occasionally let it rip ( as once or twice a week ) it will probably have little if any impact on engine life. I have found the guys the break the engines with mods are the same guys that manage to break stock engines.....

Again, just my opinion....

P.S. Super nice looking setup..... A little green with envy...
