4.10 Gear question...

4.10 Gear question...

American Muscle suggests a rebuilt bearing kit that costs around 75 $ extra to go with the purchase of a 4.10 gea set!
Did any4.10 gear owner buy this bearing kit when they bought the gears?
I currently have almost 30K miles would i need the rebuild bearing kit?

It's a good idea to do it while you're in there. With 30k miles you may or may not need it, but it's cheap insurance.

I did not but mine was done early on. I do have a few questions for you? Is there anything special about those bearings? Are you planning on drag racing it? I do agree it is cheap insurance, I have just never heard of it before and there is probably an extra cost at the shop to change the bearings out (even if they are already there anyway.) I would suggest you get either a good speed shop (who does mustangs alot) to do it or try your nearby Ford dealer who is also or was a SVT dealer. Mine told me they would swap them out and still honor the warranty. In retrospect, I wished I had gotten 3.73 gears since my car is around 365 hp, first gear is tooooo short. I prefer to launch in 2nd. If you have an auto, I would really suggest 3.73's

As for cheap insurance, I would suggest you get the FRPP Diff cover. That provides some support to the whole assembly.

No Drag racing but yes for street racing meaning at stop lights
Yes i have an auto!
I usually dont shift between gears only when i'm in traffic or going uphill but i will start doing so when i get the TCI Rachet shifter!
What's the difference between 3.73's and 4'10's? i want the car to torque (as much as possible)
so which gear is better for that?
I'm adding mods little by little have ajlt 2 on right now with tune got some kooks headers o/r x and stingers, street fighter stall converter also getting some cams pulleys deleteplates and the gears!
I want torque!

PS. my brother will be doing all the changes he is an auto technician used to work for audi & volkwagen very good mechanic! Got his diploma from APEX been a car technician for at least 8 years now!

All I can say is, I am very happy with my 4.10's & TCI Streetfighter shifter. I did have the whole tranny kit done on mine even though I had low miles. I just wanted it to "be all it could be".

If you want Torque get 4.10's!

The higher the number (4.10's - 4.56's) in the gears the faster you take off. The lower the number (3.31 - 3.55 - 3.73) the more top end you have.

Low miles like a few K it's ok not to do the bearing kit, but it's recommended at your higher mileage.
