$385 for pulley install

I feel like I was ripped off. $240 for the kit, $145 for the install and it took 3 hours.

Why? Have you ever personally done the job? $145 for the install sounds like a fair price to me.

If it took 3 hrs and that's all you got charged for labor then it sounds like a deal to me. Dealer mechanic rates sometimes run over $100/hr.

Well I was talking to a friend who said he paid $200 for the kit and $80 for the install and it took a little less than 2 hours. Just wanted to make sure I didn't over pay because I had planned on them doing my gears and long tubes.

Gears = $350 parts and $250 labor minimum.
Longtubes = $500 parts and $800 labor minimum.
Steeda UDP are $189.95 shipped with a code at american muscle.
UDP install took me 2 hours with only hand tools, I posted this btw.

My gears ran $425 out the door + Royal Purple Synthetic/1 year warranty...

Longtubes (BBK/X) were $800ish but did the install myself...

Does the engine come off the mounts for longtube install? I'm assuming yes because of the price.

I personally did my Steeda pullies...I wouldn't do your's for $145 bucks. After you have done the same job get back with us. I think you got a very fair price. I would have paid that to do mine in a heartbeat!!

During the install, you do need to jack up the engine about 1/4-1/2 inch.

Thats not bad, did you do the install on a lift or on jackstands, and what about the compy tune?

I did my own. I wouldn't do anyones ofr "only" $145. THAT said... I would NOT want anyone to do mine but me.... There's a certain amount of "care" involved in things being done right vs. being done. Do it yourself... you can appreciate it more in my view. It's not "hard" work but there's some discretion needed to do a perfect job I think.

I agree in most cases I figure if some one else can do it why can't I. The exception being rear gears. 50 bucks an hr for labor is pretty fair in my book. Will he install parts that you bring him or does he only install what he sells?
