Looking at getting a brand new set of 3.73s

What are people’s opinions of Motive versus the FRRP gears???........

(I want to save money of course and the Motives are cheaper but I don’t wanna sacrifice quality to save a few bucks)

I dunno.

I have read multiple threads on gears for the 05's and the vibe I'm getting is that 4.10's are the way to go. So many people have them and love them...no regrets. I've heard on multiple occasions that you won't even notice a difference with 3.73's on the 05's. When I get my car and its time to do the gears, I'm going to compromise with 3.90's. Ford Racing doesn't make that ratio, so I gotta go with Motive.

Hello...well, i can olnly speak from my own experience. I have 3.73's...and i love them. I have an Automatic though. There was a big difference for me...and yet it is not ridiculous. Car is getting between 18.5 and 19.0 mpg in city....24 on road with normal driving. Put your foot into it...and that becomes 15.5 in city..and about 20mpg on highway in my car. My auto goes through gears pretty quickly...so i would venture to say with 4.10's...it might be too much in the Automatic. Now the stick cars, 3.55-3.73...is not too big of a deal...so i guess 4.10's would be the obvious choice. Gas here is 2.65 a gallon for 87...and 2.85 for 93 octane. I run 93 octane tune..so mpg is becoming more of an issue.Good luck...you will enjoy the gears no matter what! Oh...i have FRPP gears. Paid 189.00...you can find them cheaper.

Thanks guys -

Yeah I have an auto and am set on 3.73s - the MAIN thing I am after with this thread is people's opinion of the Motive brand versus FRRP......

[BTW Fman - how you liking that throttle body spacer - tell any difference with throttle response since install?]

Every set I have owned so far have been frrp. I had good luck no noise from the rear at all. I had a couple guys that used to go the strip with us that had bad luck breaking motive ring gears.

I'm planning on going with 3.73's using the Ford racing gear, however some people had a problem with whine ,and had done the install two and three times and could not solve the problem. Anybody been having this problem or did you find a cure.

FWIW, I have FRPP 4.10s in my automatic, and I have had zero issues. No whine or noise, and great response. I have a 50-mile daily commute in SoCal traffic, and mileage is no problem. I get 17-18 around town, and 23-24 on the open road with cruise control set at 80 mph.

I thought about going with 3.73s or 3.90s, but I am so glad I didn't... 4.10s are perfect for this car (even with the automatic).

Trust me Dave, the MAIN thing you'll be thinking about after getting 3.73's put in is, "Man I should have went with 4.10's!!" Trust me

The latest set of gears I have are Motives and they are quieter than the FRPP set they replaced. Didn't notice any difference in quality
