2011 GT motor/trans into 2007 GT?? Can it be done??

So I've got a 2007 Mustang GTCS, I've been tinkering with appearance mods for a while now, but am starting to get the itch to make it faster now that its OFF warrantee and fully paid off. I have looked at the Hellion turbo kits, Superchargers of all shapes and colors, but after seeing the 2011 GTs power numbers and hearing that its only weakness is its pistons, I really want to buy a motor and tranny out of a wrecked one.

How hard do ya'll think the swap would be, I'm very serious about this... The reasoning behind this, is I DO NOT want a car payment and I can afford a $5,000 engine swap a whole lot easier

The chassis is unchanged from 2009 to 2010/11, so it's only a matter of which parts are needed.

- Motor/trans
- Drive shaft?
- EPAS ?
- PCM
- K-member?

I hear the bellhousing is the same so if you are a manual tranny ... you wouldn't need the tranny if you keep the 5-speed. Personally I'm not sure if I like the idea of an extra gear to shift through ??

Why not just supercharge or turbo your car? it will probably come in cheaper.

I've been pricing superchargers, the one I would get IF I were to go the SC route is the Edelbrock E-force, after its all said and done for the base model, I'm looking at over 5K, the HP rating would be something like 380rwhp, so I figure, why not just go out, find a wrecked 2011 GT and salvage the motor, trans, pcm, etc from it? I know a guy who buys totaled sports cars at auction, he pays pennys on the dollar for them, he sold my friend his T56 and LS2 for his camaro for like 2k, can't beat that with a stick if you ask me... I think I salvage a motor and trans from a 2011 GT for about 6K, TOPS, so not only would I be adding the HP I would also be adding that other gear, 6spds are nice.

Just looks to be a stronger transmission, what's not to like about being able to run more gear and still get better mileage?

Sounds like a plan I think this will be a pretty popular swap in the next few years to come! Sounds like you've got it mapped out, what do you need us for?

You can make more than 380rwhp by changing pulleys and getting a custom tune with that setup but good luck on the hunt lol

Consensus seemed to be it would be a very expensive swap

Tranny is only rated for slight more power from what I understand. 380TQ vs. 360TQ. I'd rather hit 100MPH in 2 shifts instead of 3 ...

I looked at that thread, the only thing it says is that buying the engine, trans, etc IF bought through FoMoCo will be expensice, sure I can see that.... But I plan on buying it salvaged, I think I can do it at a fairly reasonable price... I also like the engine's power potential, I gotta find a wrecked on 1st
