I have a 2005 Mustang GT with the 5-speed standard that I love except for one thing: the drive by wire throttle system. My hatred of the system stems from the mushy feeling that the gas pedal exhibits when you step on it and the slight delay the car has before the engine responds. I saw in the June 2005 issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords that when they dyno-tested the 3 valve mod, they used vice-grips and bailing wire to actuate the throttle body and my question is, would engineering a real throttle cable set-up for the engine in the GT cause any computer-related driveability problems with the car? I know the throttle is controlled through the computer since there are many times that I step on the gas and the computer doesn't allow the throttle body to open immediately and the car bogs before taking off. If I could retrofit an actual cable into the system, how would the computer react to its orders being overruled by my right foot?

It's my understanding that a tune would address this issue.

Get Steeda Motor mounts with the tune - that will fix it I bet the guys with the Steeda motor mounts can verify this - the solid feeling gives you plenty of feed-back about the engine via the seat, sterring wheel and throttle position

That can be corrected for the most part. It would however be a nice thing if someone really engineered a cable system to play with.

I was more concerned that the motor was slow respond when I got off the gas. I have an automatic an at launch I have on foot on the brake and the other on the gas. I hated the car on a winding road but the Predator stopped the lag and as Bryan said the motor mounts returned the solid feel.

The computer slows everything down as well as closes the throttle for tq management. You can actually change how much modifications the computer makes to the throttle input. So basically you can make he throttle plate follow the throttle as if it were attached to a cable.
