I forgot to mention that only suspension work down was lowering with Vogtland Springs and Im about to install Steeda LCAs.... I ran a 12.9 with the Street Kit from C&L.. Would I see a difference now that I switched to the Racer?

Everything I've heard about the racer is that N/A see marginal if any gains as the added flow just isn't all that much. I think the often mentioned Brenspeed tech camshaft article makes it seem "necessary" to get their reported HP results, but I'd be real curious what differences could be determined with the normal tube.

I think the keys to 11s are: shedding a bit of weight, practice, proper suspension setup for maximum weight transfer, practice, 310+HP at the wheels, the usual engine/intake/exhaust bolt-ons, sticky drag tires, a cool day at the track, practice, decent tune. Adding lighter wheels and skinnies up front can't hurt, and I'll be ordering my Bogarts once my bonus check comes in sometime this month.

Im looking into getting an Alum.Driveshaft(Still undecided which Manuf.) and maybe Cams... Not sure yet... I heard that our Manifold is bad... Doesn't suck in as much air? Is this true?

actually, I would tend to believe our manifold is pretty darn efficient, given that C&L, FAST and others haven't yet produced an aftermarket replacement that provides any gains for normally aspirated cars. This doesn't hold true for supercharged or turbo cars though.

An aluminum driveshaft will provide less rotational mass, which is a good thing, and the camshafts will provide some top end improvements, but note that aftermarket camshafts are NOT necessary for getting into the 11s and are quite expensive to install. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved up some more money and done cams AND ported heads at once, so I wouldn't lose torque like I did with cams alone.

thats true.
I did do some porting to the stock intake and saw nothing noticeable + the switch to the GT500 t/b didn't help much either. I may have gotten a tenth from all of it including the CMCV deletes. I imagine with a little bigger engine it would help more but the fact is there's just no enough cubic inches and the heads and intake flow plenty for 281cid. The heads unported should be able to flow enough to make 400+hp N/A when given a larger displacement and proper cam selection.
I would love to get an N/A shootout race together. Anybody got friend at the magazines?? I know a sponsor that can help a little
John, still have my car on video from super stallions? I'd love to get a copy if possible.

A shootout is a great idea. Although I have a feeling it will be in the Mid Atl / NE region since all of you guys are from that general area. Thats okay I can do a road trip. What are the rules for interior, tires, or is it run what you brung?

Hey Ron, I'm trying to organize a 11.00-13.00 S197 race for the NE or mid-Atlantic region over at modularfords.com (in this similar thread). The more the merrier, and we're thinking April's Superstallion run is a decent venue, although we'll consider other tracks

And yes, I remember getting a couple of your runs on the camera, I'll have to check to ensure they are readable at the end (Zach had some shaky hands that day). You can come over any evening and we can trim them out and burn them on a CD.

Good question: Ron is on the right track with sponsorship if/when possible, and my original thinking was 11-13.00, but maybe we have different classes and expand it a bit...this thing is ballooning, and it might be worth gauging interest and renting a track for a day just for us (not hijacking someone else's track rental) if there are 20+ cars that can prepay.

Run what you brung has it's merits, but I'd love to stack folks side by side with personal bests only a few tenths apart. And maybe some friendly trash talk!

Maybe JimIII can have some friends at the magazine take a few pics
I don't care if it's readable. I have the time slips and the datalogs i would just like to see what the suspension is doing during the first 300ft.

I don't know about what rules to put in effect but i would say n/a & no gutted out cars (meaning major suspension- work tubbed out etc.) minimum weight w/o driver 3300 cause thats about as light as you can get one without doing crazy stuff.

I'll hit the scales in Mason Dixon the first weekend--I'm curious what the current weight is.

I have two videos of you, the best is a 11.93. I'll burn them on CD and you can analyze them in high res on your PC.
