09 GT rear brake rotors
09 GT rear brake rotors
Need new rear rotors on my 09 GT. I already have new pads ready to install but I need to do the 'whole package'. I just need/want OEM so I'm thinking to get the pair from NTO (newtakeoff dot com) for $90 delivered.
Is there anything special I need to remove the old rotors and/or install the new ones? I have 18" rims. Any videos on how to tackle this?
Thanks,
forhill

pretty straight forward job. You will need to get the tool to compress your caliper pistons. I usally just use a pair of needle nose pliers to turn them in but its a little eaiser with the proper tool
The rear rotors are a total pain in the *** to take off without the proper tool. Go to Autozone and they should have one you can rent for a $50-60 deposit. It's called a brake disc caliper wind back tool I believe. It is possible with the needle nose pliers, but there will be a lot of cursing and frustration.

But excepting this, they are as unlike a pain as described as I can see. Rear drums are more excruciating, and don't get me started about SVO/Lincoln Mark VII rear brakes. Ugh. The Mustang S197 rear brakes are cake in comparison.
Heck, the fronts seemed to be worse when I did them. They're comin' up again, so maybe I'll have different to report this time.

And the rotor? Just get whatevers at the Autozone or such, it's OEM and is fine. I have one on the right rear, as I ate mine by accident. Didn't see the inner side until it was too late. Just popped the new one from Autozone on and voila. All workin'.
Or hey, yeah, get Rick's.
