07 Tailback exhaust up grade

To those of you who have taken possession of an 07 Mustang, I have been trying to decide of I need to upgrade the Exhaust on My (upcoming) GT/CS. Looking at the FRPP, installed by the dealer, so I can roll it into the loan (also a CID). Some of you have said the 07's sound better than the 06's. Any opinions?

Haven't heard stock '07, but I love the sound of the FRPP's. A little bit of drone @ 1800-2000, but much less noticeable with the the JLT (or should I say, a different kind of drone).

Doug,

Supposed to have my 07 GT Vert week of Aug 15 - Haven't heard any 07s yet - but I have really like the Flowmaster American Thunders on my 05 GT. Would really like to hear the FRPP setup.

My '07 did sound good when I brought it home, but I don't know if it was any different than the '05 stock. I've already installed Flowmasters, and it seems louder with them on than the '05 did, but everything underneath look just like the '05. Don't really have one to compare it to though.

My 07 GT/CS is definitely different from the 06 GT that i traded in. I see no reason to change the exhaust at this moment. I've had the car for one month now, with no problems. Life is good!!!

I really like the sound of my 07 but would really love to hear the FRPP's in person. If I hear them and they sound as good as I think, I will buy a set.

Anyone in the DFW area have FRPP's that I can listen to?

I consider my 07 way too quiet! It's only got a few hundred miles on it though, so the mufflers probably haven't seasoned yet. I noticed that the GT mufflers I had on my 05 V6 took about 1k miles to develop their tone.

I just read the other day that the manual and auto tranny cars have different mufflers. I was skeptical, but Sunday I was under the car and noticed a big sticker around each of the muffler pipes that read "MAN". So perhaps it is true. I don't know if the manual mufflers are louder than the autos or vice versa, but if mine has the "loud" mufflers the autos must be pretty darned stealthy

Bob, those are the mufflers (Borla Stingers/ FRPP) I'm planning on getting if and when I get some. I'll drop you a line if I do it. I've heard they have some drone around 1800 rpm, but with the 3.55 gears I'm never in that range while cruising.

I was originally going to put the Borla/FRPP Stingers on my 2007. I listened to them on a car at the Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA in June. I liked them a lot when I heard them. When it came time to order my exhaust, a friend of mine at LateModel Restoration Supply (www.50resto.com) talked me into the MAC axlebacks. I am SO glad he did. They have a much lower, throatier tone and sound GREAT! If you have not heard these mufflers on a car, believe me, you want to! And if I remember correctly, there was recently a price increase on the FRPPs making the MACs a pretty good buy! I changed my mufflers the day after I got my car and haven't stopped smiling since!

Will do, I think I may be ordering them in the next few days (waiting until the next CC cycle starts to spread the pain a little bit )

Did the Corsas and have no regrets! Great sound!! Going to do the headers next year. Outside of Kooks, what other headers would other recommend?

Love my Flowmasters. Installation was easy with saddle clamps. No problems and sounds great.

+1 for the macs. Have had them on my 05 for over a year, and love the sound, even with the rest of the stock exhaust. Many compliments since they have been on. They really sound old school.

I went with the FRPP GTA mufflers from the Shelby GT/GT-H and couldn't be happier. See the details in this thread:

Boltzman, I would really love to compare the sound of your FRPPs to my MACs one day. Plus it would be really cool to see a Tungsten with dark charcoal next to my Tungsten with light graphite.
