06 GT, Mid 12's, About $1500 spent - Videos!

Went to Houston Raceway park last Fri in search of 12's. My goal was a 12.85. The temp was 50*, and the pressure was about 30.10, and my weight was 3650 lbs. I have NO suspention mods. With min mods this things move!

JLT + Bamachips Tune - $550
Summitracing UDP - $150
OBX LT + O/R H - $480

Total - $1180

DR - $500

Grand Total - $1680

First run was a 12.83 at 107.97! 1.896 60ft, bogged launch, shifted at 6000 rpm. Ran a mean "Hemi" ram.

Second run, 12.94 at 107.78, 2.017 60ft, bogged launch shifted at 6500 rpm.

Third run, 12.684 at 107.77!! 1.852 60ft, shifted at 6500 rpm, at the launch I reved up higher than I wanted so had to let off then the light went green as I was rereving to my launch rpm, so if I didn't feel rushed I could have done better. Ran against an auto S197 with a Superchips, 4.10's and 100 octane.

Fourth run, 12.71 at 107.65, 1.875 60ft, shifted at 6500 rpm. The black S197 I ran had a nonintercooled Paxton blower.

Great times for the mods you have!!! Some additional practice launching with those DR's may get you to your 12.5 sec. goal. If not, then some suspension mods should. Nice vids too.

Hey Dean,
Big time congrats. I also think it is those OBX longtubes that gave you the edge. However you must be a pretty dang good driver also!!!!

JLT is a manufacturer, in this case of a Cold Air Induction

O/R H stands for "Offroad H-pipe" basically the pipe between the manifolds/header and the pipes over the rear axle, "offroad" part being that the pipe replaces the factory pipe that has cats, with pipes without, hence not street-legal.

Thanks much for the information...I'm learning all this slowly but, surely! It's a whole new world after stepping out of the "Old School" cars and terminology into this modern technology .......!

Sweet, to get those times in the first place, you've probably already got a pretty good launch technique.

Suspension mods will do wonders for your traction off the line.

Thanks ya'll!!
I don't think of myself as a good driver, just one that thinks if I break it while I'm doing this I will fix it. I guess to get the best times you can't be scared to blow the rear, clutch, trans...expecially launching around 4500-4700 rpm...With the DR's my driving has gotten MUCH better at the track, but I don't practice on the street tires, so if I try to launch at a stop light, or stop sign while I have my everyday tires on I just go up in smoke.

And the bit of beating the blown car..I was awsome!lol, jk. I talked to the drivers boyfriend, and he said that it has gone 12.2's, (don't know about boost amount), so I would say that they did something wrong on that run. But it still feels good to say you beat a SC S197 with just CAI/Tune/LT!
