My car is in the shop now getting a new top.

The rear window was starting to come loose from the top. My dealer told me that ford new the adhesive was bad in a batch of tops but didn't know what cars they ended up on.

I guess I was one of the unlucky ones.

 

Ouch! What was the build date on yours? I haven't noticed any problems with mine yet, 1500 miles and the top has seen plenty of up/ down action.

 

How do I find the build date?
I didn't track the car through production since I bought it off the lot.

 

If you don't know your build date tell us what date you took delivery. The build date is usually 2 or 3 weeks before depending what area of the country your are in. Took delivery on mine on 3/18 and have 1500 miles of it and have not seen any problem up to now. Definitely will keep an eye on it. Sorry about your luck.

Check the tag on the jamb inside the driver's side door, it should show the month and year of manufacture. It doesn't have the exact date, but at least that will give us an idea of about when yours was built. Thanks!

I just got word that the top is in, so hopefully it won't be long.

On the window sticker it has 3 16 05 in the lower right hand corner???

I think the build date on mine is 03/05, I'll check the date on the window sticker when I get home. Sounds like I better check the window out too! How many miles did you have on yours before you noticed a problem?

Wouldn't you know it, that is the exact number that is on mine as well. I checked the perimeter of the top very closely, both inside and out. No problems so far, but I'll be keeping an eye on it!

 

How long did it take to get your new top? I have the same problem and haven't been able to get a promise date from the dealer on top delivery. Was the dealer able to put the new top in OK? My local dealer doesn't have an upholstery shop so they are going to send it out to a local shop that supposedly is very good.
