Went to Bowling Green with a bunch of the SVTOA-Nashville guys yesterday and got the '05 on the track for the first time.

1st 2nd 3rd
R/T .035 .001 .001
60ft 2.059 2.075 2.065
330 5.837 5.886 5.853
1/8 8.962 9.022 8.990
MPH 78.40 78.12 77.99
1/4 14.003 14.079 14.046
MPH 97.83 97.83 97.83

Run #1 was with the Predator 91 octane tune, run #2 was with an SCT 91 octane tune, and #3 was back on the Predator tune.

Needless to say, I was a little disappointed, but not necessarily surprised. I was shooting for mid-13's with the auto. Traction was very good yesterday and I think my poor 60ft times had more to do with the stock torque converter than anything else. There was also slight headwind.

I really need to data log the car and see what is going on with it. As you can see my MPH on each run was identical, but what I consider low.

And those times were with a 4.10 differential (per your signature)?

Traction control on or off?

If off how'd you handle wheel spin?

Take off in 1st or 2nd?

What rpm did you take off at? I'm assuming you were loading the brakes pre-launch.

Any other thoughts you can add I'd appreciate. I'm going next saturday and I don't know how many runs I'll get as they'll be busy due to first weekend open.

thanks
Chris

Stock 05 auto's are going 13:90's.(which I'm sure already know)
I think your already on your way into the lower 13's you
just need to slap a set of good M/T's to get that 60 down.
If you can afford to go with a slightly looser converter.....all the better.

Alternative Auto Performance just bought a 05 GT auto for R&D.
There doing research with the SCT on the 05 auto.
Dont get bummed out. It's just a matter of working it out.

You may find some info on the 05 auto there.

Heres a few links for you.
Hope this helps..

I saw those guys from Alternative running at Bradenton yesterday. He was getting 13.00's with an auto. He did something with his converter. I'm not too sure what. I honestly don't know anything about automatics, except that they shift for you. Anyways, he had a single wire running from under the hood into the cabin. As much as I understand, he was having the converter engage sooner? I know due to seeing that there is a lot more in the auto's.

Those #'s are rather disappointing. Starting to make me wish I had been more patient and gone manual trannie. Looks like torque converter will be on menu soon.

I would have expected mid 13's.....seems something is not right. Have you tried adjusting tire pressure? I think I read somewhere someone (169stang)? was doing well with 35-36# instead of going the lower route.

Calm down guys. Don't get disappointed yet at all. I have done a lot of research on auto's and sticks. They are 2 different animals. Anybody want to pm I can share some info. 169stang has done a great job with the stick. So has Boss Hog. I would follow those guys. Also 2005GT has great insight. Vegas to. Elvism, sc67stang, etc with the auto's we just have to hang in there. As stated Alternative Auto was testing some new parts. I have talked to Lidio and know a little about what he is doing. I was glad to hear about those numbers. As stated on his site, it's the convertor guys. He does a mean tune also for the torque management stuff and shifts. As for numbers and garagelogic hang in there. I ran 13.83 @ 98.21 stock. Then 13.67 with a 4.30 gear at 100.93. Then a 87 tune from diablo ran a 13.54 at 103.25. With a 2.05 60'. So hang in there run it with the stock tune again as a firm starting point? If I can help le me know.

Thanks for the info Black Majic.
I've realy been on edge and excited just waiting to hear some news on Alternative Auto's R&D on the 05GT auto.
Good to hear there making progress and the auto guys will have there results and dont get discouraged,it's still in the early stages..

Think they'll have it ready for puchase for the racing season?

And to 2005GT and the rest of you guys who contributed there time and efforts in testing alot these products........Thanks!
Greatly appreciated! :worship:

I appreciate all the feedback and I'm not too concerned. I was running on the wider wheels and tires, so I know rolling resistance was more than at would have been with the stock combo. There was also about a 10-15mph headwind all day. Also, I wanted to reflash to the stock tune to see how that worked out, but there just was not enough time. As stated, most autos in my area are running 13.7-13.9 bone stock. I just figured the 4.10's and performance reflash would have done better. To answer the other questions:

Traction control was off on all runs.
I had little or no wheel spin. The track was hooking very well.
Started in drive and let it shift itself.
Launched at 1800rpm. Anything more and the wheels would start spinning.

Based on my track results and my previous dyno info, there is some funny stuff going on with the electronic tranny. I, like other, know there are folks like Lentech and Alternative working on a fix.

I sat there talking with those guys for about 1/2 hr. Very knowledgeable! He mentioned something about the wire working the converter, but I wasn't retaining the info. I was pretty ticked about my own situation with my clutch. They had 2 cars there. One auto and one stick. The stick was on stock tires and was cutting 1.8's in the 60' and low 13's as well. Ported heads as well, but he downplayed any benefit of the port job.
