and im not saying he can't win it would be a drivers race...but equal drivers the T/A will win.
Yeah Chris, T/A is faster in 1/4 mile, as previously cited, but not 0-60. Nonetheless, Just friendly chit-chat... It's all good.

I still see lots cruising around. I though they looked pretty cool, just way out of my league as far as pricing went for the V8's. Can pick up a used one on the cheap now, if top speed is all you care about.

From everything I've read, stock for stock, the Mustang has the edge 0-60ish, but there is no denying the extra power of the larger 5.7, once they get traction and can overcome their poor gearing they will overtake us in the 1/4 (both drivers being equal). I do not, however, believe 99.9% of the kill stories I've read on ls1 forums where they claim to leave the new Mustang GT 8 bus lengths behind by third gear though. I bet it's much closer than they like, again stock for stock.

I still don't get the big rivalry, it's not like buying a car makes you worthy of credit for it being engineered to be fast.

I happen to love the exterior of a "4th Gen" T/A WS6 (or Firehawk). If I had enough money, I'd buy a triple black M6 2002 T/A (or Firehawk), drop a LS2 from a C6 Z09 Corvette down in it, turbocharge it, take care of that god-awful "skip shift" and any other gearing issues, and go to town.

Now the interior of those cars.... bleh. I'd rather strap myself on a milk crate with a wooden steering wheel than subject myself to that El-Cheapo interior.

That was the # 1 reason I never got one. I never felt comfortable sitting in the seat either and they have poor visibility. I liked the power, but if I was gonna spend that kind of money I needed to enjoy sitting in the car.

I had a '95 T/A. Anyone know what the power output was on that year? I never knew when I owned it and haven't found out since.

Exactly. I had a chance to buy a M6 Sunset Orange 01 T/A with only 14k miles on it recently, *execellent condition*, for only $14k. Turned it down due to issues with the el-cheapo interior.

I just got home from work, had a new pontiac GTO try to mess with me. Not quite as agile as me and the stang, dropped it into forth and left him in traffic. It was funny hearing him rev when he saw me in his mirrors but I was around him before he could down shift

His exhaust did sound pretty mean though, and I know hes probably faster considering he has a 6.0 and 400hp but those cars are UGLY look like those new monte carlos.

My friend has a '04 GTO, 350HP 5.7L, 6sp. We raced one night and it was neck and neck through the end of my 3rd gear. Towards the end of 3rd I pulled away because he says he missed 4th gear. Even if he didn't miss it, it was so close it was a tie. I was in front by a few feet then I would shift and drop back a few feet.

Bottom line is the VVT on the new 3 valve 4.6 has such a flat torque curve that I think all of his shifting slowed him down. I only had to go through 3rd to make it to 100mph, he had to get way into 4th to hit 100...every shift looses time.

I think that was GM biggest mistake with the GTO... it could have been so much more, but they stayed true to the Pontiac look.... which is the same for the Grand Am, the Grand Prix, the G6 and the Montana mini van...

GOOD CALL!!!

but, you gotta respect the 400 hp
