Tiburon vs. V6 Stang
I was refering to stock for stock and a stock r34 has only 278 HP and if you are going to replace the turbo or super charger than why buy a car that comes with one, I was making a comment on the fact that they needed a twin trubo to get to 278 and the mustangs come stock no bolt on or mods with more power and as far as the cost, I did say to get one here, I agree that if I were living in Japan than the Skyline would be a decent purchase, but I am not in Japan.
My comment was about the Tiburons and Asian Imports as a whole, not all Japanese cars, the Skyline was a side story...sorry toget off topic, but back to topic, Tiburon=worthless hunk of junk

Now, back to the Tiburon vs. Stang debate.....
Tiberons have been getting pretty good reviews not just performance wise but quality too. Seems like a solid buy if it suits your tastes.
V6 mustang vrs V6 tib, dunno haven't driven either car.
Riced out? I can honestly say I see just as many V6 mustangs (and to a lesser extent gt's too) with giant aluminum wings and body kits that are hanging loose and unpainted with silver tails as I do Tiberons.

Edit: added a word to make sense.

Here goes. I own a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT. I drove a 2003 Mustang V6 before the Tib. The Hyundai is better in every way, except the heritage part. Fit, finish quality, sound system, seats, room, the extras you get for no charge. A stock V6 Tib is faster than a stock 04 V6 Mustang.
Also Hyundai is a Korean company. JD Power and Assoc. rate Hyundai quality above Ford and Toyota for that matter.
rrobello, obviously you don't know what you are talking about calling a Tiburon a "worthles hunk of junk."
Now is a Tibron GT faster than a 05 Mustang V6, I have never driven the new Stang V6, but by the numbers I would say its faster(the new Stang). Also the new Stang's quality is above or on par with the Tib now.
With a few N/A mods my car is near the 04 Stang GT at still less cost and better quality. Also, I LOVE Mustangs. But I also love my Tib. I just like the 05 Stang GT better. lol

You also have to take into account that if you are going to mod the cars, the general rule across the board is that you can do more with an American car and get more out of it, Asian cars seem to be very limited. I had a similar debate with a friend of mine whos into ricers about the skyline. First off these people really must think that stickers add horsepower, because he thought that the skyline came with 500HP (so did other friends, they say they got this info from a reliable source; probably FAST AND THE FURIOUS) until I proved to him that it only came stock 278HP and it was already Twin Turbo, so how can you add anymore power to something that already comes turbod when superchargers and turbos are the fastest way to get a lot more HP and its already done and you still sit under 300, that stinks. Id much rather buy a car that comes with 300 without the charger or turbo and then add it to get even more. Anyway my point was to agree with the others that its sad that Japans TOP CAR is slower than most of our $30000-$40000 cars and to get one of theirs here new you have to spend over 90 grand, and for some reason ricers think its worth it. JUST SAD.

Umm, no. Last Generation Supra or r32-r34 skyline gt-r's take *extremely* well to mods. 800-100 RWHP is common. Show me an american car that can do that without a complete rebuild of the engine from the ground up. I'm just playing devils advocate here, I've never owned a Japanese Import (2 mopars, 2 fords and a bmw in my past).
2. 287hp and Cheap upgrades
How do you upgrade an already FI car cheaply? simple, better FI. Ask the lightning guys, many have replaced their blowers. It's quote common with turbo cars to upgrade the turbos. Audi S4's do it, Eclipses do it, and Skylines do it. Considering their twin turbo 6 stock puts out more power than our n/a 8 does I'm not sure what your point is. Older porsche and ferrari's put out well under 300, (heck, even less than we do) and cost a lot more than 30k new. Does that make them less worthy as supercars? And please drop the $90k figure. The price is so high because of the costs of motorex to make the cars legal imports, if nissan had actually done the work themselves, they would have sold for 40-50k just as they do/did in japan.
3. skyline slow and not worth it
An *extremely* technicalogically advanced car for its time, (intelligent AWD, four wheel steering) capable of putting down 5-600 HP with little to no internal engine work. And with all those gadgets, it weighs less than our GT does. Speed is more than just horsepower.
1) thier twin turbo car doesn't have more hp
2) An 04 cobra can put that out with little or no internal work. ( my friends is up to 480 right now)
3) I kinda have to agree that i wouldn't brag about how great the internals are in my car if i have to spend another 5 grand for them to reach a little more of their potential. if i spend $90,000, or even ($50,000) on a performance car, i expect it to fast without dumping a bunch of money into it.
4) Ferrari and porsche are status cars. they could put out 100hp and people would still pay 300,000 for the name, but yes that does make them less worthy in my book. very few of the exotics are even close to what they should be for the money you pay, but let the rich people justify it.

Look...I am not gonna buy a car from a country that can't even produce a cartoon with the mouths of the characters matching the words.

que?
Ok as I stated before, I had this arguement with a friend who owns a GT Tiburon and races all over the place and anyone he can, he does know how to drive and pushes his car to its limits, so instead of arguing we decided to go and actually put our cars up against each other. My stock 1998 V6 mustang VS his GT Tiburon with a cold air intake (only MOD).... we raced several times from a stop and he just could not pull... I dont care what the numbers say...manufactuers always fudge the numbers and CAR AND DRIVER and a couple of other of these car mags that cove all cars seem to hardly ever know what they are talking about...you ever wonder why 4 different magazines always say the same thing almost word for word, its because they just use what the manufactuers give them as far as stats....the four seasons I worked at would always host these drives for the magazines to evaluate the cars because there are a lot of great roads near by to drive the cars....and I have talked to a lot of the reporters for the magazines and actually got to go on one of the drives for the Crossfire. They pretty much just report what the manufactuer gives them and drive the cars just on a street drive so they can include their own oppinion...which is also byassed because the manufactuers do give them incentives to write certain things...you should see how these guys are treated on their retreats to try the cars. Like GODS. They very seldom actually ever get to test the cars on a track and when they do its because it is a key car to the manufactuer (like the FORD GT) and they invite the magazines to their own track with their own driver and run their own tests and the editors just watch. It simply costs to much for each magazine to do this on their own. Back to the Tiburon VS Stang. My stang spanked my friends GT each time and it wasnt even a challenge. The numbers say I should've lost but I didnt, and each of my friends that talked so much smack no longer do. Case closed.
Richard,
Laughing So Hard I Cant Breathe
My own little Cyberism. I used to be part of this forum for women, and we made it up. Now, it is possible that it existed before us, but I have never seen anyone else use it, other than the group which consisted of about 15 women.
There is also, ROTFLSHICBPIMP
We used to have contests to see the longest phrases we could come up with. Yeh, a bunch of stay at home moms who were bored stiff! LOL
K,
I really have nothing worthwhile to add to this.. so... off I go!
