Exclamation

Setting:
7:45am on a 4 lane divided thru-way. Mild construction, School buses still out...the usual 45-55 mph roll.
Sitting at a traffic light a guy rolls up in a late 90's T/A. I actually like T/A's a lot so I check out the car. Nice condition looks stock with the usual "My kids a Honor Student at XXXXX". Light turns green and the guy does a smokey burn....40 feet to the next light !??!! I thought he was doing it to be funny. So again I am beside him and look over. He has this grim frowm, looking straight-ahead, wringing his hands on the steering wheel, and revving his motor. Hmmmm...Again...school buses out...busy street with construction, mild traffic, AND in a known Highway Patrol area. NO THANKS. I just turn up the tunes and ignore Don Garlits beside me. Light goes green and off he goes....55 feet of tires ripping and he makes the next light. GET THIS...out comes his hand...ok...so now I get the finger???? NO...He make the #1 sign...and pumps the air...

I almost spilled my coffee...laughing.

Look...I love my mustang and I bought it because I wanted the nicest looking car....my drag racing days are about 20 years and 4 kids in the past. I just couldn't believe this look of jealousy this guy was radiating. Geez...Will Chevy just build these guys something to keep them happy ?

Later...
Jay

lol that's funny! I have never had a mustang GT or any other muscle car so I have yet to experience that. I'm with you... I'm not going to risk getting a ticket for reckless driving from some loser.

I'll get crazy on my own time

Now that is THE tag line of the year. I'm very tempted to get a personalized liscense plate that says simply "BAIT" due to all them GM boys, like sharks to the chud, swarming and trying to goat me into an impromptu street race.

That's ... just ... sad.

Good on you though for not taking him up on such a crowded area with kids.

It's not just the Chevy guys either, here in L.A. it seems like I've already had eight or more Cobras do the same.....i.e, rush hour, in front of a school or most recently IN THE RAIN, in front of a school during rush hour? Maybe it's all the talk about the car, but something about it seems to set off the male ego a bit. Also, large SUV's like to "push" me around the city. See how close they can stay on my rear bumper, which I don't have a problem with when driving other cars.

Like you, my street dragging days are like about 40 years in the rearview mirror. Not saying a ticket won't be coming my way but its going to be on an open road, good conditions and no one around. Bottom line for me is not to 1- hurt/kill anyone and 2 - same for myself.

Geez, you guys sure sound old...I bet you got a rude awakening when you found out 8-track tape players weren't available in the new Mustang! Maybe you can have one of your Grandkids "rip" a CD full of "MP3's" from your old Frank Sinatra albums.

If you didn't want attention, and didn't want "Street Race" status - you bought the wrong car!

LOL - All in fun... (Thanks for not running over my kid at the bus stop).

Jay I almost spilled by coffee on the keyboard reading your article it was very funny. There are a lot a jealous folks out there. They should all get a grip and buy a mustang.

P.S. Red, us old guys as you put it like to race around thats why we have mustangs, but common sense tells us "old" guys that not racing in construction zones and schools zones is a no brainer. By the way I was never fond of 8 tracks they were to cumbersome. Mustangs and mini-skirts now there was a combination!

Man that is Crazy what do Cobra owners have to be jealous of.. Mustang owners should stick together we should be part of one big family.

That is funny about that T/A owner. Did he have a Mullet and rocking out to some late 70's southern rock band like Skynard.

Uh..ok

I sold my YZF-ZR1 recently....have had that one (in the appropriate time and place..ie...open road...with no traffic) at well over 140. So it's not speed

I listen to "old" Bands like 911, Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot, Blind Slim, Smashing Pumpkins...oh..throw in the really old one likes AC/DC, Ozzy, Elvis Costello (mellow time)....I do like how the Shaker 1000 can make my rear view mirror vibrate so it's not my music either

:geek:
OH! I know...it must be my ultra LOW insurance payment that sets me apart. I get it now. That makes sense. I have a bunch of younger guys who work for me and are always begging for overtime. The complain about how high their insurance is and then brag how the left a 20 foot launch mark right in front of a cop last friday. :cop:

All in fun....I thank you for not running over my walker

Hold on...got to got get some more Depends...I'll be right back...

Lynyrd Skynyrd and 05 mustang GT, two great tastes that go great together!
