Sold the Stang for a Camaro...

I dont know where this thread belongs (another site maybe), but I sold the stang and I just bought a 99 Camaro Z28 6-speed with all the good stuff from the SS (and a bit more) that im pretty pumped about.

And before the flaming starts, I still do, and will always love stangs, but ive got a soft spot for camaros too. Especially when theyve got 330hp+.

Flame away.

Im not a big fan of the last Camaro bodystyle, but I might fall for a cheap Z if it came up like it did for you. Sounds like youve got a nice car in your hands now.

I had a Camaro back in 1989, two bad cylinders and dented/rusted all to hell. Can't say I ever missed that car.

Wait, weren't you just whining a month or so ago about how you couldn't afford the gas for your mustang, and now you sold it to buy a Camaro with a 350? You could have at least been honest and just said you were trying to find a Camaro...lol

Anyway, have fun with the car, but don't be an A-hole chevy driver (I assume you weren't an A-hole Ford drivers, so that probably won't be an issue). They are fast cars, but in all the GM F-bodies Ive driven, I could never get used to the seating and ergonomics. The seating position just didnt work for me, and even friends who own them say the same thing. I hope you enjoy it.

well i definnatly give camaros props for a good engine.. but i have two friends that are chevy guys that had 1998 z28's

both of them had interior pieces always breakng...and then you have the seating position! I would not want to drive that car much no matter how much power it has.

the are fast though my friends A4 z28 with ram air hood and intake, computer programmer and catback used to crack off consistant 13.5's and the car bested a 13.2sec 1/4.

Cool congrats on the new car.

I drove a couple early/mid 90's camaro's (prior to redesign in 9X?) and I found the seating position to be perfect for me. Every other car I've driven it takes me a week to find a position I like, took me 5 minutes in both Camaros I drove.

Had I been able to afford one, I would have bought one in 2001. I think they look pretty cool.

Haha, good memory. As for the money thing, i really wasnt loooking for a camaro then, i was looking for a good little truck (which i found after too many hours of looking, and now have to sell) . Gas seems to be going down for the next while anyways, but more importantly i got a good job that i wasnt expecting. As a student i was planning on not working (hence selling the stang) because i needed time for homework. One came up where i get paid pretty good money to just sit there and do nothing but homework 90%of the time, so that frees up a bit of cash.

As for being an a-hole, I try not to be. Im not brand specific in what i race against, ill enjoy taking down, or losing a good race to a camaro as much as i would against a stang.

Hey guys, heres some pics. The guy has it on a dealer lot, but i just bought it directly from him, saved about $4,000. Im planning on taking off the black stripe on the side, im not a big fan of decals.

62 miles, 6speed, SLP ram-air system, exhaust... and a radar detector.

Congrats on the newer and faster car.
I found the seating uncomfortable and the ride not as good as my Mustang is.
I had the money to buy one new, but every test drive I took ended in," I have to think about it I'm not really comfortable driving it". Every test drive in the new Stang ended with, " Wow that was really nice".

Save your pennies for your next trade up to a GT500.

I actually like the seating position, fits me good. im pretty tall and skinny (6'2", 160lbs). Im kinda disappointed in the GT500, and im only 19, so this should be more than fast enough for me... at least till i can save up the bucks for an 03/04 Cobra...

As for the rims, agreed, they blow. I havent even picked the car up yet but yesterday morning i was looking at some 18" Z06 rims, 9.5 in the front, 10.5 in the rear... helluva stance. The tire prices scared me though, so ill have to see what i can come up with. Ive got some time to think though, its going into hibernation as soon as i get it, and not coming out for about 5 months.

What about Camaro SS wheels? IMO, they look pretty good and should cost less. As for tires, Kumho's don't seem too bad for the price. BTW, how's the insurance for that car?
