Hey this is Fordfreak from the old site. Anyways, I'm just getting ready to graduate college. Eight more credits and I'm done! I'm going to be an Industrial Electronics Technician. So I should have a job coming up about the end of the year. And I have pretty much decided that I want a Mustang GT. The question is, do you think I'd be better off getting an 04? Because, I could problably get a very good deal on one since the dealers will be trying to make room for the 05's. I really like the 05's, but if I could save alot of money I'd jump right in an 04. What do you think?

GT? '05 if your finances permit it. Better design, performance, and suspension.

As a recent college grad myself, I recommend driving what you currently drive or getting a 2004 V-6 and maxing out your 401k.

Yeah, your right. Besides, I'd feel really bad if I pulled up to a red light and got smoked by an 05. Then I'd say " What was I thinking? I wish I got a 05. "

Sorry Brad. You posted before I read your post. That's not a bad thought. Not at all. I was thinking about a v-6, but I had my heart set on a v-8. Maybe I'll take your advice. It's definatley something to think about. But I have alot of time.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Mustang, but the wiser decision would've been to keep my previous car and max out my 401k or put the extra cash in a savings account.

Or get a Mach 1, and not have to worry about it

Tough decision, in reality. I opted for the 04, but I've had my job for awhile.

Brad's right the fiscally responsible decision is to get the 6, and wait a bit to be more established, but ultimally it's a decision you'll have to make. Some GT's are going for great prices now. And you may find a used one for around the price of a new 6. (May not be 2004, but it'll be the same car.)

GT JOE I feel your pain. I was just at the Ford dealership here in town (Boise, ID) today, and they have 2004 Mustang GT's priced at 17,988!!! My neighbor is a salesman over there and he also has 1 2003 white GT that they would have sold today for 16,988 which included the Ford Rebate the dealership rebate AND an extra $1000.00 due to it was a 2003 model. I am REALLY hoping that the 2005 is worth it because it was hard to walk away from that deal today.
P.S. They are selling the v6 at 12,988!!!

I feel your pain too man... I just hope there are some 04's leftover when I go to get mine! Which will be early 05. I've always liked the 03-04 bodystyle, and can't wait to get one!

I've made up my mind....I'm getting a 2004 GT! I gotta have a v8. My truck that I have now is a six cyl 4.2L V6 and it is underpowered. I want something with some get up and go. But I'm still going to do the 401k thing. Thanks for the tip!

im definately goin with the mach 1. for 2 main reasons. 1. the price is just too good to pass up. and 2. it will be more rare and more valuable than the GT. you know how many GT's i see everyday on the road. i've only seen about 5 mach's since last year. so that right there is a huge factor. also the new 05's seem really feminine and old  if you ask me. i think ford targeted our senior citizen base.

i had the same dilemma you have. an 05 or an 04?? but im so sure now. besides the mach is certified as one of the best all around mustangs ever built. looks, power and drivablity. hopefully you can figure it out soon. cuz the 05's are around the corner.

Count me in the Senior citizen group at 21, 6 days until 22... no wonder I felt like I was getting old

I think I'll stick with the GT although I like Mach 1's. I promised my Dad I'd buy him a Harley Fat Boy so I'm on a limited budget. Gotta save a little $$$$$$ here and there. You know how it goes.

Where I bought my Mach 1, they treated me great.

mr-mstng,

Thats a really good price. I think I'm gonna wait until later in the year and then they should be a little cheaper at the dealers around here in East Tennessee.
