Saw the Challenger

I like what Dodge is doing but i've been a mustang fan for a while. There is a good rivalry between the charger and mustang but $ for $ the mustang wins. The new challenger is just the next progression for the muscl car era that is back in full swing. To hell with gas prices, torque and Hp is in and i am looking foreward to what Ford will put up against it.
I honestly think the challenger will cost 35-40g's for the 6.1 so that should make its competition the shelby or the Srt8. I don't see a lot of new cars at the drag strip so it will be a lot of street talk and who really is honest about that. I lost traction the other day against a crappy ricer that couldn't hold my jock so he is probably on his forum talking about a mustang kill. He didn't loose traction so i guess he has the right to brag.
If i had the money, the new challenger would be in my garage.

If I had the money, I'd take a STi, Evo, Challenger, Camaro, and Corvette.
but that is simply not the case.
so mustang all the way
i'd test drive the camaro, and maybe rag on it to the dealer.

My point about the GTO was that we saw a bunch of cool GTO concepts then it was released as piece of garbage that it was. For all we know the production Camaro may look like crap.

Yep. The Challenger is supposed to be based on the LX platform, which isn't lightweight at all (Charger/300/Magnum). Coupled with the fact the high end Charger is supposed to have gobs of torque, it'll probably be on-par with the Ford Crown Victoria in weight (4100-4300 lb).
The roofline of the concept Camaro will be at least 4-5" taller for production. Only short people can fit inside the concept. What this does to the rest of the lines of the car, is anyones guess.

It's hard to judge what is going to happen between the Mustang/Camero/Challenger bit. As it has been mentioned, the pony-car wars are starting back up (as they should) and yet, unlike last time, this round of muscle cars is going to be viewed by a broad public of buyers who know jack squat about cars. Hardly anyone even does their own oil changes anymore. Ask most people which car will be "better" and they immediately run to see which has the most horsepower.
So even if the Mustang beats the pants off of every other muscle car produced, if the stock 'Stang sells with 300hp and the next guy sells with 350hp, people will believe the Mustang sucks.
Of course, we know better...but we're sadly not the majority nor the representative sample of the market.
Dodge has got a lot of makeup to do, though. Even if they push the Challenger out, I don't see Dodge doing very well in both sales, service, innovation, or customer satisfaction. If they wake up, the Challenger might be a new halo car. If they just keep on the same rut they've been in for the past 15+ years, it'll end up another novelty. At best an alternative to the charger.

Needs to be more Astony
I don't think hp alone will persuade the buyers. The mustang had less hp then the camaro nearly every year yet the mustang out sold the camaro/firebird 2 to 1 the last 10 years of the f-body existance.
