stock SRT4 vs. my 5m GT.He was right behind me at about 20mph and we got on them.I slightly fudged my 1-2 shift but hit them OK from there. The SRT stayed on my bumper the whole time.he didn't have enough to pass, but I could not shake him. This really bothered me.At the next light I asked him it it was stock and he said yes,for now.He said my exhaust sounded awsome at full throttle.I need that K&N and SCT program badly.Im sure when he goes stage 1-3 I would not have a chance unless I do nitrous.I so wish Ford put 350hp in these cars

ok you either botched that shift more than you thought or his car is not stock...I ran into someone I knew on the streets one night and he has a SRT4 running 10lbs of boost and I took him and not even at full throttle, he kept up but if I had pinned it (didnt because I noticed traffic up ahead) I would have left him behind, that was before my intake so it as just the shifter and muffler delete on my car.

I almost got spanked by a heavily modified civic. The car was beat up, no body mods, but did it ever move.

He says a 2.0, and I know I heard a turbo.

He was a good guy, wasn't a jerk at all.

dude,

no offense, but unless you're the world's crappiest driver, that car wasn't stock. I smoked one the other day effortlessly. He musta had some goodies in there to keep up with you. Oh yeah, my car is still bone stock.

on a bad day a bone stock civic and hang with a viper. they are qucik but bone stock the SRT4 runs low 14's to high 13's so if you blow a shift they can keep up. and you were from a rolling start. off the line you would have pulled away from him.

Im thinking maybe there's something wrong with my car.I seem to get jumped a lot initially from the start.I raced a 350Z recently and my car just sat for a second when I hit the gas.Happened with a porshe too,I just didn't go for a second. When I go to full throttle my car seem to lag for a second or two before getting on with it.I was thinking that it was just the electronic throttle control, but maybe its just a bit too controlling.I plan to get a SCT tune soon and hope that helps.

no offense but sounds like you just need a little practice driving to get a good launch...and stoic that bad day he was talking about he forgot to mention that the viper was still in the shop getting the tires put on, the only way a civic will be able to beat a viper if it doesnt show up.

If your car is bone stock then the bog you are feeling is the "torque management" that Ford programmed into the comupter. It's designed to prevent abuse on the drive train and mashing the throttle from a dead stop or roll will produce a bog first until the ECU allows full timing and fuel. Get a tune and this will take car of it. Then go find that SRT4 again........................

Oh, another street racing thread. Not good, guys. There is another larger site where they appreciate this. I don't. And yes, I am older and have seen the results of too many street races.

I'm probably older than you,it was on a very empty road in a non-populated area.Just don't read the post if it bothers you-OK.

SRT-4 is really fast car. My buddy own 2005 SRT-4 and I remember once he raced against 1998-2002 Camaro Z28. He killed him. I mean, Z28 have 305/310 hp, but SRT-4 killed him that time.

Sounds like you ran into a stage I SRT. A stock SRT4 is a bit slower than a manual GT. I know a guy I talked to had a Stage 3 SRT that ran high 12 and trapped @ 112.

I spent the 80's street racing every weekend and everyone I raced with and I are still here to reminisce about it. I don't know what's happening but these days the kids doing it must be doing it wrong.

Oh yeah, I agree with the "if you don't like it, don't read it" comment.

ZRX,
See about joining a Mustang club that gets "Drag Days" at the track
and you'll be able to pick up some techniques there. I am in a club
and I picked up good knowledge - and learned how to take off & go.

Good Luck,
Scott
