question

im not sure if this is where the topic goes but if it isnt..someone move it

ok i just turned 15 last week and my dad has been promising me a mustang since i was 10 and now its time to get one. but the problem is that he wants to get a 2006-7 V6 pony package which to me is ugly as crap. and i want a used 2004 mach 1 or 05 GT, because theres not replacement for displacement and that rumble to. haha and plus my neighbor ( also 16) has an 01 cobra and an 01 bullitt so a V6 would be a play toy.
but i wouldnt drive the stang all the time because i also have my truck, but the problem is that which would be better for me? we have about 10 used GT's around here for under 21,000 and plenty of mach's for 19-22
any suggestions?
please tell me how they could hang with the cobra...not that i would race =)

Wow! I wish I was in your situation! I would gladly take a V6 PP! At least he isn't pushing a 4banger! That would definately keep you out of trouble!

Congrats on a wonderful dilemma! Really! If pricing isn't really a factor, get a V8-powered Mustang since that is what you seem to indicate you really want anyway. No sense getting something you won't be happy with. However, that "talking smack" does raise a flag though... makes it kind of hard to resist if it leads to "put up or shut up" if you know what I mean.

yea i have to agree with frank!, how much are they anyways?
cost isnt much of an issue because my dad said i have to pay 1/2 and keep tires and gas, and whatever breaks i have to fix it. He always gives me these lecture about how his 1st car only cost 3,000 (1973)
thanks for all your help!

You guys are 16 and you have all those cars

Either of you actually pay for any of em????

Ragging aside, get the Mach 1

..but still... so many cars... and they.re not even cheap ones.... *bangs head on wall*

ins would most likly be higher on mach since it is a limited production model and has more power.

But if you can...get the Mach. BTW..a Mach 1 will smoke a 2001 Cobra.

Ya id say go for the mach too, those are sweet.

And I mean this with no desrespect, but try not to be too upset if you crash it, and im gonna go out on a limb here and say that it will happen. Again, nothing against you, but most young people who start with a fast car dont last too long. I got kinda lucky (I guess?) that I only had the money to buy a fox body when I was 17, so were not exactly talkin mach speeds, but I came way too close to turning myself into a statistic more times than I can count.

Be careful and lay off the racing until you know the car a bit better, and when the time comes you shouldnt have any trouble waxing that 01 cobra.

My dad wanted me to wait on getting one period. He made up lme excuses when i was 16/17. I lived it out with my taurus (still running strong and about to break 200k) anyway I finally saved up some money and got my gt. I say if you need to get one go with the 6 cyl so you dont kill yourself, I know I wouldn't be alive and would have ruined a nice car at your age.

Speaking from a parental point of view, I wouldn't give you a choice, it would be the V6 and you would be **** happy you got it.
I wouldn't (won't) buy my son a NEW or USED Sports car for his first vehicle, whether it be V6 or V8. Speaking from personal experience, 16 year olds CAN'T drive that well. They THINK they can but indeed they cannot. Sure they can run a car 100+ mph down the highway, anyone can, but that is not the point. It's how you are able to handle the car in an abnormal situation that defines your ability to drive. Driving takes experience and at a young age you just don't have it and adding a 300 HP (or near there) sports car is just adding fuel to the fire.
[Steps Down from my Soapbox]

From a 16 year old's perspective I would take the Mach

Get the V6. It's got as much horsepower as a Fox 5.0 Mustang. Plus your insurance will be lower. A GT will get you in too much trouble.

I got my '65 when I was 16.....and now I'm 21, married, my own place, and every time I got over to my folks' place... my dad STILL asks if "I've been hot-rodding"...Which I havent been...much....

but I'm just saying...no matter what car you get, TAKE CARE OF IT!!! Don't florr it every chance you get, cause sooner or later, you're going to break something...and it wont be cool. Take care of the car, and it will take care of you!

V8 all the WAY!!!

mach 1 or 05 gt.

just say no to v6's.
if you want to be safe and practical, don't get a mustang.

but since you want one, get a V8!!!
hmmm but 16 is pretty young. i remember being 16 and driving...i'm only 18, so i remember well, lol. i was a pretty bad driver, haha.

yeah but i'm a firm believer in V8's. haha.
