I am not a fan of such comparisons and I don't want to start another WRX/Mustang discussion but I think You should read it.
It will be better if Camaro comes back-We will finally have a natural competitor.
Impreza should be left for Evo.

This stinks. They don't even pick a winner (I hate when mags do that) and they complain about no seatblet for the middle seat in the backc for the stang. Could be because there isn't a fifth seat

Trading the V-8’s wail for the intercooled two-liter turbo four’s mad urgency, you access the economic benefit of using less fuel—27 mpg on the highway versus the Mustang’s EPA highway figure of 20—and bask in the eternal moral value of lower consumption. And it’s only fair to point out that the Mustang’s economy drops quickly into the twelves and lower in the city, when you addictively launch the muscle machine away from stoplights with antisocial glee.

I posted this review in the rec.autos.makers.ford.mustang Usenet forum a couple of weeks ago, complaining exactly like you did that they didn't pick a winner. There were quite a few responses that folks didn't want the magazine to pick the winner, but rather just present the facts and let the reader decide.
The main problem was the Car And Driver Mustang GT vs '05 GTO comparison, where the GTO pretty much took all the objective numbers, yet lost the competition based on subjective things like "gotta-have-it-factor."
The point is, you can never please everyone.

It seems that throughout the entire article they were trying to think of excuses for the WRX being the lesser car. Doesnt matter though, we all know what we would take.
Plus, we know what the placard on the desk in the oval office says....

To me the Mustang and Wrx are very different kinds of cars.
I did look at some, but only at the sti and could'nt see myself in one.

But I still think it's a great comparison since the two cars cost the same, and both place performance first, and practicality second.
It seems the comparisons for the GT are pretty much used up. We've read comparisons to the GTO, WRX, 350Z, and RX-8. What else could there be?

Now we need to start seeing some comparisons with the V6. It seems there should be a lot of cars that would qualify for that. Yes? B)

He got a 2002 WRX because at the time it looked like the best performance bargain out there. Ironically, one thing that helped him make his decision was a long-term review in one of the major auto magazines (either Motor Trend or Car And Driver I think), where they said that one of the best things about owning a WRX was the surprised look they'd get from Mustang GT owners when the WRX was able to keep up with them or beat them in short impromptu races.

But, he's been less than thrilled with the car. For one thing, it's so grippy with the AWD that it's really hard to have fun with the car and get a little wheelspin when you want to - the car grips [and then bogs] instead. Also, he tells me that the low-end torque is pathetic, and the car doesn't really shine until you're well up in the rpm range - meaning that the car isn't really that much fun to drive until you're quite a bit over the speed limit.

On the plus side, he hasn't had any trouble with the car, and it does handle well. The Momo steering wheel is also very cool, and the pedal and shifter layout is done well. It is a good car, but he's definitely thinking about trading it in on an '05 Mustang at this point.

I think some of you are missing the point of the comparsion,it's a brains vs brawn type comparision, both cars are similar in performance, but both go about it in very different ways.

a subura isnt necessarily a bad car, its just not a mustang. Guarenteed if all the testing was done in the snow people would think differently.lol The mustang is the geratest car of all time, it just cant be compared to some cars.
