Mustang (S197) vs Mustang (horse)
Mustang (S197) vs Mustang (horse)
I've just about lost all respect for TopGear and especially Jeremy Clarkson.
In this clip (from his latest DVD "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) he races the Mustang car against the Mustang horse around an oval track, and the car loses!
But how is that possible? Well, have a look at the video and decide how professionoal do you still think TopGear is:

But still, even admitting that he doesn't know what are the exterior differences between the V6 and the V8, how could he not notice that the engine sound was not that of a V8? I mean, that should be the first clue! Not to mention seeing the single exhaust, or more complicated things like popping the hood...
It seems it was either a joke or somebody at TG really screwed up on this one.
I can't see this being a joke, in all honesty.
We're expected to believe that Ford accidentally supplied them with a V6, and that no one on the production, nor Clarkson, noticed?
Ain't buying it.
That just leaves one possibility: He intentionally tried to pass the V6 off as the GT, in order to dishonestly prove his pet theory that American vehicles are all crap for the benefit of his Euro audience. It's all part of Clarkson's shtick, and it helps keep Top Gear's ratings high.
I love Top Gear, but that was above and beyond. It'll be interesting to see if he gets publically called out anywhere on that one.
Incidentally, if anyone wants to download the entire episode, you'll find it here.

i think people are generally supposed to know that anything coming out of clarksons mouth should never be taken very seriously. Any car this side of a U-Haul cube van could beat a horse around a track.
The English media has always taken an interesting view towards all things American. If you watch BBC productions even on history subjects, its quite different as to how we know it. I bought a collection of videos on WWII and you would think the war in the Pacific was won by an Avro Lancaster and a dam buster bomb
I think there is a little chip on that shoulder sometimes. Being that most of the noteable 'English' cars are developed with Ford(or BMW) parts at the heart of them these days, they surely have taken a liking to the newer Lotus products, Toyota engine or not.
