Many Corvette owners are really snobby. I like them both, but for my I think a Mustang is better. The owner's are great people, and while it doesnt really apply to you much, bc youre leasing, Mustangs are more unique. There are so many mods that you can do to make the car yours. Sure it cant keep up with the Vette from the factory with suspension, horsepower, handling, etc. But that's one of the things that makes Mustangs better to me. Not everyone wants the same thing from a car, and Ford realizes that, they could have put a bunch of other stuff on it, but the car wouldnt be affordable, or as simple as it is. I say the Mustang is a better car, and welcome to the good side, lol. I only wish I had one, I'd never get out of it, haha.

 

I bleed Ford Blue, I am a Ford man through and through. That being said, The 2005 Up 400+ Horse Corvettes are an absolute kick in the butt to drive! The Head Up Display is extremely cool. The new 2008 LS3 small-block V8 pumps out 430 hp.

Corvette Owners seem to be snobby as hell, why I’m not sure, a car doesn’t make the man no matter how cool that car is, most corvette owners just don’t seem to know it…

Comparing the 2008 Corvette Coupe to the 2008 Mustang GT California Special isn’t exactly comparing apples to apples.

If I was going to get a Corvette, it would have to be the 2008 Corvette Z06 with the LS 7.0L V8 with 505hp $72,125.00 ~ $78,670.00 MSRP.

For $80,000 I can get my 2008 GT500 and a 2008 Mustang Bullitt…

The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Starts at $46,950, up to $54,955.00 if you want the Custom Leather Wrapped Interior, that’s firmly in the 2008 Shelby GT500 street price range. For my money, I’d take the GT500. :-)

 

Corvette for sure, If its just a summer car, you cant beat the performance per dollar,

 

$185? Thats another car payment in my budget book...before I got my Mariner, both of my cars were 160 month....(60 mos) if money isnt problem, go with what you like the most.

I will have to say the vette is much better than the stang in many ways but I think the stang is more usefull and cheaper to insure.

Just a side note you can get equity out of a leased car and the miles you put on it won't be held agaist you any more than on a buy. You do have to trade it in early and not wait till the last minute.

 

Objectively, the Vette is a far better performance car that'll run rings around a Stang.

Subjectively, the Stang is really cool, has a great heritage and styling and goes pretty darned fast anyways.

Basically, as others have said, a bit of an apples and oranges decision where the only way you can go wrong is not to really know what you yourself want.

So what are you hungry for? A fully world-class performance envelope for a bit more coin or more affordable style with a good kick to boot?

Get the Vette unless you need a back seat and/or the extra $200/mo. would be a stretch.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with "settling" with the Mustang convertible. There is nothing quite like driving a nice road with the top down on a beautiful day. All that "the Vette is faster" ego-stroking nonsense just goes out the window and life is good.

Personally, I got the Mustang because it is a great platform to mod/personalize (not that you will, given you are leasing). Plus, I needed the back seat.

They are not all like that. I have several friends that have them and they are not snobby, rude or disgusting. Ok, sometimes they won't talk to idiots that want them to "light'em up". They get mad when someone parks real close to their car. They let out the occassional fart in public, but who doesn't.

When I bought my Mustang I would have bought a vette instead if I could have afforded it. Now that I have spent so much on the Mustang I think I should have bought the vette

 

If you had bought the vette would you really be happy with a completly stock vehicle. You prob would have wanted to spend as much on mods as the mustang and it would have cost you even more. So now you have a awesome unique stang for the price of a stock everybodies got one vette.

 

If you can afford a Corvette, you may want to check out the Roush 427. I believe the pricing is about the same and you'll be in a class all by yourself with the 427. Then you get similar performance AND the coolness of the Mustang.

Think about it.

I bleed Ford Blue also, but have loved 63-71 Vettes since my youth, hated the C3's, those things were crap, C4's got better, C5's major improvement to sportscar, but these C6's are awesome. I would love a C5 ZO6, C6 Coupe, or especially C6 ZO6, but my wife would never let me have one. When I mentioned I wanted one she showed me pictures of ******** wrapped around trees, and believe me there was a lot of them. I didn't settle for the Mustang though, I loved Mustangs just as much, old GT500's and especially Boss, oh my god those were awesome. I love my Stang more every time I drive it, but with all the mods its my own, and years after the first S197's came out I turn heads everywhere I go, people pull up beside, honk, and say nice freakin' car. The vettes around here are driven by 50+ o.b.g.y.n.'s and the like that can afford them. I'd have to be grey or bald before I'd get a Vette.
