I let my friend drive my car...we were cruising and came up along side some old muscle car looking thing (sorry, I ain't that good at recognizing cars). He was like, "I'm gunna race him!" I was like, wtf no! ...but he did anyways. He taunted the guy and the dude took off. When he hit the gas, it make this loud hiney "whirring" sound...I can only imagine it was a supercharger of some sorts. Anyways, it was pretty cool. The guy taunted us for a while, we couldn't even touch him. It was cool to see an older car in action that was fast as poo. Eventually, his passenger gave us the thumbs up and we returned it and u-turned. I need a supercharger.

hmmm, letting a friend drive your car is bad enough. Letting him race it on the street....... :nono:

Hey Chris, might as well save these posts for another place where you won't get haranged about it.

I guess I should have made it clear what I meant. It should have been him in the drivers seat, not his buddy.

It happens to the best of us clockworks.. Your story and my brief one, are good reasons not to mess with old Muscle car owners, who have enough pride to drive it on the street, even with the grey primer still on it..

My story in brief.. I had a 1981 911 Turbo.. Some refer to this model as the 930, for the year 1981, in which it was made.. We are on I-280 coming out of Los Gatos, Ca. A buddy spots an old 57 Chevy.. Somehow we missed the tubbed rear-end on the back.. All we could see was the grey primer on the boddy of the old 57 Chevy coupled to some nicely chromed bumpers.. Well, of course in my mind, my 930 Turbo is one of the best Porsche's out on the road.. I mean, the 1981 911(930) Turbo was a feared car back in its time..

Well needless to say, I foolishly taunted the guy.. "Big" mistake!! I droped it into 3rd gear and spooled the turbo up to 4000rpm, which is where it kicks in at hard.. The 57 Chevy owner punched it, and his rear-end squated like I have never seen before at that time.. I punched it, and mine and my buddies head hit the headrest!! We hung with him for about an 1/8th mile when all of a sudden, all 5400Lbs, of that gray primered 57 Chevy nailed us to the pavement, with my Turbo spooled up tight and all.. He was gone!.. My feeling was, he toyed with me for awhile, and decided he better end it while its safe.. As we slowed down, passers by on the freeway were laughing at us.. We got smoked, and even soccer moms in minivans knew it.. Women would glance over at us with a smile on their face.. LOL!! It was bad man..

So, just a rule of thumb... When you restore an old Muscle Car, the first thing owners do first is the engine and drivetrain.. Which means, looks can be quite deceiving, because these guys are not trying to get on base.. They are swinging for the fences!!

..but I was drunk as heck last night. I really wanted to drive my car though. I'm somewhat of a responsible guy, so I called up my friend and said he could drive it if he comes over. The car is still pretty fun, even from the passenger seat...

MSP, ha that's a cool/funny story. I kinda dig it when muscle cars get the best of exotics...

Friends are NOT suppose to do that unless the magic words are spoken:

"Take him"

or in this case 'TRY to take him'
hahah

I agree fully. Street racing has been around for a long time, and probably will for a long time to come.
