Street Racing is Dangerous and Illegal

I was going down I75 today and up comes the Sarasota entrance a Burnt Orange Lambo Marcialago (sp?). I'm in the far left lane, he pulls along side in the center... paces me for an 8th mile or so, then jumps it - I go. We passed a little bit of slower moving traffic, but we weren't going full bore, and I got behind him. My wife says - What the heck was that? I respond - I don't believe it, but that's called getting respect from a Lamborghini! I'm following him in the left lane for about 10 miles when we come up on someone doing 60mph in the left lane :bang: . Well, we both slow to 60 or so, and after a few hundred yards the slow car moves into the right lane and it's all clear for a mile ahead... Lambo boy puts a little puff of smoke, I drop into second, pull strong all the way through 3rd (didn't watch me speedometer, but was over 100) and kept up with him. I was impressed.
Now, don't add him to the kill list, I'm not 100% sure he was going as hard as he could, and he was pulling away. But he was pulling away ever so slightly... It put a big on my face.
And before anyone flames me - since there's been a lot of that going on lately - I know he was faster, I know we could've gotten in an accident, etc... and I did not win... but hey, it was fun, and I thought I'd share the story with you!

Wow. I have yet to see a Murcielago in person here in KC. The best I have seen was a Gallardo. I would have done the same thing...raced him just to see him hit it. If indeed he was on it all the way, that is very impressive, given the 3.5ish 0-60 and top speed of 200+ mph. Wish we had those things driving on the highways here. I would be all over them just see them fly. Much like people in Chevy S10's rev their engines at stop lights just to try to get me to go.

Tim,
It might've been a Gallardo... I'd have to see them side-by-side to tell the difference. It's one of the Lambo's that you see the celeb's drive on MTV Cribs, etc. Either way... it's a Lambo!

That's alot better than the knucklehead in his hotrod Monte Carlo(new model) who was trying to get me to run him on the freeway today. I don't race but, that Lambo would've been tempting.

I know that but, if I read John's post correctly it was the Lambo who was trying on the Mustang for size. If I ever tried to race anything it certainly wouldn't be a Lambo or other such car. Street racing doesn't sit to well with my line of work anyway.

You're correct Tread, he decided to show me who was boss, it wasn't my challenge. Really, neither one of us was challenging each other, just 2 enthusiasts having a little fun... A little give-and-go, that's all.

I tried to get a NSX to play with me the other day but he didn't. I know they are pretty nice rides but he wasn't totally out of my league. What a waste of car.

in Scottsdale AZ a week or so after I got my black on black GT W/ bullits a Lambo Marcialago pulled next to me at a red light, he asked all sorts of questions and told me my car was beautyfull and he wanted one!
It made my whole week! a 1/4 mil dollar car owner gave me props
his engine cost more then my car!

Racing - when you think your car is better then the other persons and to prove it you run them, This was just both owners of their cars wanting to see the other's car in action. You are lucky many never get the chance to even see one of these

Very nice, I would have had a hard time forcusing on driving for staring at the lambo out my window. Up in Maine we dont get to see those very often. Unless they make a "cow edition" that stands in the feilds on the side of the pike that is
