Well I wasn't really in the market to look and was kinda holding out for an 05 GT but...
At a local dealer I found a beautiful 04 Silver GT convertible, loaded to the gills (Mach 1000 system as well) stickered for 32,300 (29825 invoice). The next I found was an 04 Mach (in black or white, they have 2) 29,935 sticker (27,644 invoice) and 32,220 sticker (27,900 invoice). Lastly the salesman said he has what is basically "a free car" which threw me off...It was a brand new 03 Cobra, never titled sitting on the showroom floor. It is maroon, has 43 miles on it. He said to make an offer because they want it gone. I told him I have to think about this and would return tomorrow. Here is my dilemma...I have an 02 Jeep Wrangler that I owe 23k on and it's worth about 16k.That leaves me 7k upside down...or basically 4500 upside down after the 2500 rebate on the 04's. I like the Cobra, but even being a 35 year old male with no tix/no accidents/married insurance comes out to 548.84/6 mos for the 03 Cobra. The mach is 528.98/6mos. The GT vert is 440.06/6mos. To put this in perspective I pay 372.15/6 mos for my 02 Wrangler sport. I think I can live with the GT Vert ins. premium and can beef up the ponies on my own. My question is since a lot of people are waiting for the 05's what would be a good offer for the 04 GT Premium Vert ? I have no idea what to even offer on the 03 Cobra or Mach. If I could get any of these at a steal I would do it regardless of the insurance. My wife said to offer 20k for the Cobra, lol!!! I have a feeling they'd laugh at me. Any thoughts on any of this is much appreciated...I'll be back down there tomorrow at noon and want to have some sound info/advice.

Here's the site... http://www8.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/Di...ang&statetoken= enter zip code 44221 and Scroll the dealership down to "Montrose Ford"
they're #'s 1,5, and 8. The 03 Cobra is not on the site

What exactly is the story on that Cobra? I couldn't figure out exactly from the above ... I they probably won't give the Cobra away, but it's worth seeing about. Also, 7K is a huge amount to be upside down on. I know the $2500 rebate helps, but my goodness! It might be better to wait and pay your other car down.

Wait. Wait. Wait.

Being upside down on a trade in is never a good thing.

Hold out for a 2005. You won't be sorry.

Probably not a bad idea to wait for the 06 vert. The story with the 03 Cobra was that the Gen. Mgr of the dealership wants it gone. The saleman told me they're taking any offer on it no matter how absurd. Well seeing as it's been there all this time they must not be too serious about dumping it...at least not yet. I'll offer 21k for it and see how hard they laugh.

man with 7000 upside down good luck getting low financing. and their idea of offer is probably closer to the sticker price. im sure they wont give it away. but they have already taken a loss on the car. and anything they get for it will pad this years bottom line. and according to KBB the retail value for a 03 cobra is 31,000 and the private party value is 29000. so id doubt they would go below those numbers. just b/c that is the market value for the car in your area

Yep,another good point...I got lucky with my Jeep.I rolled 2500 into it and still somehow got 2.9% financing. I think with this much it would be a lot higher. I think I just had temporary insanity today with all the sweet Stangs in front of me for the takin',LOL!!!
